    Normal mobs cannot be this tough. The game is supposed to be solo friendly. But you can expect tougher fights at dungeons since they are being made for party play. You guys need to keep in mind that this game difficulty is that the game was planned as many vs many, not one vs many...the monsters need to be easier to kill when you expect them to come in groups...once the monster groups are added outside leves (hopefully soon...only group i saw outside leves and quests are the skelletons of cedarwood) these very same monsters will offer a much more entertaining fight to people.

    Right now, for tougher fights just go fight larger monsters, like peistes, drakes, hogs...these can offer you some good entertainment even at your rank and do are very tough to kill if 10 ranks higher than you.

    solo the drakes, pesties, and hogs already. what would make party play fun would be the ability to take a party out and fight some of the level 80+ mobs, but quite frankly the only way to kill them is run in one at a time with punishing barbs up and let it one shot you. they have no grey area mobs in which are too tough for you, but good enough for a party to kill.

    I'm in favor of making the game truly challenging, but it would be a waste of effort to do rebalancing right now with an overhaul of the battle system itself in progress. After that update these discussions will carry a bit more weight.

    balance is what is needed , the difficulty goes from a to z in most cases, there is no middle ground.
    Then again the game is just a shell so we gotta wait to see how its gonna turn out before devs can do any meaningful balancing.

    You swear you're an adult, but you won't even answer a simple question? I never played XI, and I was curious about max party in that game. Just a question dude, grow up

    in 11 a party was made up of 6 members, but an alliance was made of 3 party, so 18.Was the norm to be able to fight anything together in the open world.
    In some instances you could have multiple alliances i can remember how many but 3+ alliances,i think 64 was max on dynamis ?.
    anyways thats how it was when i played if my memory does not plays tricks on me.

    6 = Party

    3 Party could link to form an alliance of 18 total.

    The enemies in 11 were PERFECTLY balanced.

    Balanced for party play you mean...FFXI always was extremely slow for solo play and 2 easy prey monsters could often beat you down. But there monsters were supposed to be stronger than players in every aspect when you compare a characte and a moster of same level because FFXI is a game heavy on party content. If someone go play FFXI willing to solo he's just in the wrong game.

    This one instead was planned to be party vs party. We never were meant to be fighting 1 mob at a time unless we are solo...until now i didn't understand why that claim restriction was added in FFXIV...it just removed what would make the party system work as was said right at start. But, anyway, i'm expecting battle adjustments to weaken all characters so maybe the very same monsters will become more challenging.

    "Solo friendly" is guild leves, the leves mobs are weaker(a lot less hp), if you want to solo you go and do guild leves. Normal monsters NEED to be strong and powerful or else the game is a complete joke, which is how it is right now. Soloing guild leve mobs are even a joke, you can solo them at +10 as certain classes and +3/+6 as others. That shouldn't be possible. The difficulty is too low for solo players AND group players. We need strong challenging field mobs for parties, and stronger leve mobs for solo players. The entire system is broken.

    This is also a MMO, you shouldn't be able to solo everything.
