I had weirdness with my Xonar D/X on my XP box as well. Voice-overs would only play in my rear left speaker. Was weird. I had to "trick" windows to get it to put it back to all four speakers again. I forget the order I did it in, but I think it was Asus config first, and then Windows Sound\Speaker Config options. Basically I left the Asus in 4CH mode (my sub is in a 2.1 analog rig, and I have 2 powered satellites, so it's really 4CH and not true 5.1), but told Windows I was running 2CH. Not sure just how it made it work right, but apparently the GX extensions are a lot smarter than we ever gave them credit for--it actually is doing positional audio still, even though Windows thinks it's running 2CH.
