I get the feeling that the devs are trying to discourage the concept of continuously grinding, so I can't see them implementing the "continue the synth" option. The only reason it worked for the leves is because there is a set limit to how many you can do along with an understanding that you would usually want to do them all at once.

Are you serious, if you want to get anywhere past rank 30 in a craft you have to grind unless you want to take 1 year to get to 50 using local leves.

Of course. This also acts as a discouragement from over-playing the game. If everyone went straight to Rank 50, they'd run out of things to do. It's not like I NEED to be there NOW. And with enough high-level crafters on my server already, if I want something badly I can just buy it.
    /end cynicism
    /end devil's advocate

But seriously, the game is FULL of dis-incentives for continuous grinding. Take fatigue for instance, but that's getting off-topic. The original topic was about swapping button-placement, which is a good idea since it would help smoothen the UI. Just don't expect them to introduce grinding-incentives, no matter how popular such a move would be.
