Undiscovered Mor Dhona Area?

While exploring in Mor Dhona with a fellow link-shell member we stumbled upon a cave that was different from the others I have seen in the past. It was only reachable by travelling down a short ramp down the side of a cliff and into a large underground cavern, it was guarded by several very high level mobs that we basically just ran through and prayed. I made it, sadly Hektor didn't/ /cry However, I was able to get some really good screenshots of the area in question and the secret that was inside.

Now I have tried searching lodestone, yg, zam, ffxivpro and google and have been unable to find any mention of this place having been discovered previously. Or if anyone has found it, they kept it to themselves.

Inside the cave is a rather impressive and awesome looking shrine of some sort. It just screams of BCNM instances from FFXI. A center pole with some sort of symbol and in this case surrounded by other crystals protruding from both floor and ceiling. A very ornate and elaborate configuration that I was just in awe of at first. Surely I would have heard of such a thing existing by now?

Feel free to take a look and speculate. I'm absolutely certain SE has put this object into the game for a reason but exactly why and what it could be used for remains to be seen. The fact that we managed to make it inside to even see it was a feat by itself, the mobs were likely put there as a deterrent.

I am going to venture back there tomorrow with a slew of link-shell members to fight our way inside and do some real poking around for anything we could be able to interact with. So for now I left the location out of the photos, I know most people are getting bored so maybe this will encourage some of you to do a little exploring.

that does look pretty cool. There are a few wonders around eorzea that are unknown. I hadn't seen that before. Granted I usually die pretty fast if exploring by myself XD

Well you'll notice in one of the pictures I took of it, and the last one as a consequence actually, I'm unconscious and looking at the ceiling because I had just been WRECKED by one of the insanely high level mobs that calls that particular cavern home. I feel it's important to mention that the only reason I survived to take those pictures was because my buddy (thankfully a gladiator buddy I might add) Hektor Warfield ran up to the three other mobs that were guarding the entrance to this place and insulted their mothers, or whatever it is that gladiators do to piss monsters off. I was able to slip in behind them in the half a second he managed to keep them distracted for.

Nicely done! It is a pretty cool location, just dangerous as all hell to get there. not entirely sure what its used for just yet, managed to get a few people inside and we were unable to uncover any clues to its purpose. Likely just an area implemented early for use later as either a BCNM type instance or perhaps as a location in a storyline quest related to the happenings in the fall of Mor Dhona.

It takes a certain level of manliness I'm afraid, a level that most other classes just simply don't have. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade comes to mind; only the manliest of the most manly men of all time make it to the holy grail.

But the coordinates are out there now so hopefully more people will have a chance to see this location for themselves. Kudos for hunting it down on your own before I uncropped the pics.
