WAR Underwhelming?

After losing to Titan HM all day Im starting to see what people are talking about. That PLD is a superior tank in that fight. I was under the impresaion when I chose to lvl WAR that it coild tank anything a PLD could. My gear isnt all darklight yet. I do have some hoplite, but Ive seen PLDs win with the same gear. They take less damage and have a lot more defensive abilities AND can block. Are WARs expected to only be able to tank when they have to over gear for a boss? Everything looked balanced until P3 of Titan. What are your thoughts?

You might have more hp, but you take damage like a wet paper towel, no offense or anything, but thats all the war I've seen :/ I thought of lvling it until that. War in the same gear as me, took a hit from Ifrit HM, dropped to almost 50%. I took the same hit, only took 400 dmg

As far as I heard, WAR is a temporary tank until the new tank job is released and WAR will be switched to DD role, I think WAR does fit the DD burster role actually with some changes

Well according to the tanking forum warrior is only good for off tank at end game since they take too much damage compared to paladin. So I think they will get some tweaking.

I believe he's laughing because you seem to have misunderstood your role as a WAR (at least that's my guess =P ).

Long story short PLD is a main tank that's meant to take damage from the heavier hitting bosses whereas a WAR is an off tank. It serves a duel role in that it can dish out damage like a DD but it can also tank to a certain extent. This is a role that is best suited to help with crowd control during boss fights with adds or trash mobs while running dungeons.

An example would be Garuda HM. PLD's soul role is to main tank and hold enmity on Garuda while WAR assists with plumes and sister peel (this way the PLD doesn't have to take too much heat). When you're not doing that you go back to dealing damage to boss with the rest of the DDs. Granted a WAR can tank a boss, but your healer has to be on his/her game with cures, and you have to keep defiance up with wrath at level 5 for the majority of the fight.

Too many, "So, I've heards" comments and also too many "I'm not very good at this game, and so I will just blame my class because so many 'I have heard' kids told me my class isn't as good as paladins".

I doubt if you were a paladin you would do any better. Sorry I am not trying to be mean, but warriors can do everything a paladin can, except that the game will PUNISH you severely if you a mistake on warriors. Also, you need a fantastic healer and coordinate with them or else you can except failures and wipes. There are tons of terrible healers also and so they get scared and panic when your life plummets, communicate on voice over chat and coordinate so that you can recover hp super fast.

Warriors also scale better with gear, so expect to start soaring once better gear gets released. Stop crying and listening to other baddies and have fun getting better.

Edit: If you really need help in 8 mans, ask your paladins to use Cover, and then Hallowed Ground to survive boss bursts. Both of you guys will literally take ZERO damage. It's pretty awesome.

So, in other words, we have do not belong in Titan fight. We cant dps as well as a true dps class and so PTs will just use a pld and 5 dps. This is a design flaw.
