Hello Everyone I have some questions.

Good Evening to anyone who reads this.

I know I posted this in the new player help section and I am not fully a new player. But I am not a very experienced player either.
My personal life stops me from being able to play the game as much as I would like and so I do not get alot of time to practice and find the best ways todo things.
One of the things that does upset me is I do not like my noobyness to bring down the party I am playing with.
I normaly use yahoo to chat because of how easy it is with my personal life so if you have it Id rather talk there but if not its fine.
I just wanted to ask for some advice and tips regarding some of the jobs I am leveling and playing as so I can do the best I can in my partys and groups and not be ruining the game for others.
One of my biggest issues Ive been having as of late is my ability to hold and mantain hate on PLD. I am not completely hopeless at it but I definatly would like to do better.

I'm don't have a PLD, but you might want to check out the TANK roles section of the forum, there are alot of useful tips that you can read there. Posting there will also get you more tips if if you have questions about tanking.

Most players are heavily restricted on their posts so the New Player forum is usually your best bet with a question as these forums have no post limits.

To answer Triciakitten,

There are some important things you need to consider.

Rotation
The Halone combo is your best agro combo for tanking.

Fast Blade-Savage Blade-Rage of Halone

I usually do this full rotation twice, followed by a Flash, if needed.


Weapon
Your weapon's level determines the amount of agro you get when using flash. You want to keep your weapon as close to your level as possible.

Flash
You need to pop this the instant you see adds and are charging into a mob. Usually I go with...

Shield Lob-Flash
As my opening skill.

Provoke
This taunt only puts you on the top of the agro list. You need to IMMEDIATELY follow up with Flash and your Halone combo.

Provoke-Flash-Halone Combo

Party
Between levels 10-30 a healer can actually over heal you quite easily. This will draw agro very fast. Its best to instruct them to not heal you until 60% to 50%.

Good tips from Jaminos. I'd add:

Do not open with Provoke. Provoke gives you one more point of enmity than whoever has the most hate. If someone steals hate during a fight, you can quickly get it back by using Provoke.

Starting a fight with Provoke wastes that skill because it basically gives you one point of enmity. You'll get more enmity by hitting the mob one time. Start your attack by doing Shield Lob --> Halone combo --> Flash.

Provoke is for the times that you lose hate, so you can get it back quickly. And as Jaminos said, follow it up with Flash --> Halone combo to make sure you jump up a few more points.

Also, maybe visit the forum for your server and look for a Free Company so you can consistently play with people you know and enjoy. They're more likely to help you develop.
