    Melee Classes

    Out of curiosity, is anything going to be changed in the future for melee dps classes? As of right now they do less dps than ranged, have to be in melee range, and on top of that most of their abilities are positional required to even try and compete with ranged.

    Just seems wrong when there is a lot of 360 degree AoE attacks, or bosses you can't even get behind or on it's side.

    Melee do more damage than ranged, just less than bards. Don't clump bards with smn and blm.

    From what I've read for the last couple weeks, BLM and SMN are doing more damage than melee while safely sitting in the backrows with no positional requirements.

    The main problem for me is the amount of time I spend dodging mob abilities, the majority of which are melee ranged, or chasing after the boss and/or adds. There are attacks that ranged have to dodge on occasion as well, but the bulk of attacks are always in melee range and even the ranged attacks can sometimes target melee, too. It's especially detrimental for me since Monk's rotation is very sensitive to excessive movement that isn't just me darting between the flank and back, but that's another set of problems all together.

    I'm a bit weird about it. As a monk player, I don't mind dodging stuff and in fact I really enjoy it, as I often find standing still and dpsing as a ranged extremely boring. What I DON'T find fun is when an extremely important buff of mine drops off because of its short duration while I am away from my target. If you make monks do the extra work by dodging dangerous mechanics, don't also punish them so severely with such a loss in dps. Requiring both is unfair, and most MMOs simply don't get this correct.

    Not to mention that too much movement can cause us to lose GL. Which is a huge part of our DPS

    I think its less complaining and more questioning the balance of things atm
