    So how does Brand of Water work? What does it mean by affinity with water?

    At the bottom of the crafting log there's a characteristics section. Some recipes will have 'Affinity: Element' in there.

    Most (all?) of the recipes with an elemental affinity are the cracked/damaged/moth-eaten items. Recipes with an elemental affinity cut your progress gains in half, so that's what the Brands are for (and I still don't find them to be particularly useful).

    If the recipe doesn't have an affinity, then Brands are effectively useless.
