it stop the mobs form moving for a bit

if a group of mobs are aggro on you
Bind the mobs and get to a safer loaction

I get the usefulness of an AoE bind, and when I first cast it the timer shows 20 seconds. But it actually seems to only last for about 2 or 3 seconds. Does the monster getting hit cancel the bind or something?
