First Dungeon run on Sch and I got some questions!

Did my first run on SCH last night in TotoRak and I have a couple of questions I was hoping to get some help with...

The tank seemed kinda new too so I dont know where the break down was, but my fairy was getting a lot of hate from the add-ons. Without trying to be funny/rude we basically held hate from the add-ons while the tank took down targeted mob. I know curing = hate but has anyone else noticed their fairy getting alot of hate?

In regards to the fairy I setup a cross bar specifically for its abilities but I noticed that it pretty much went on auto pilot. Anyone have suggestions on a best practice for managing the fairy? Finding it hard to switch between rows, heal and maybe toss in the DOT/enfeeble. Or is that something I'll just have to get used to?

The fairy really doesn't generate a lot of hate when it's left to its own devices. As a rule of thumb, if the fairy takes aggro (and keeps it) your tank isn't doing his job properly. As far as working in your DoTs, that depends on the dungeon, the tank, and what you feel comfortable doing. Most parties won't complain if you just heal. If Adloquium crits, I usually take the time to DoT + Spread. I also like using Stoneskin + Adlo. at the start of the fight (before the pull) to give me time to DoT + Spread at the start of the pull. Sometimes the trash hits hard enough that you might want to cut out a DoT and just do two of them, that's fine. Like I said, do what you feel comfortable doing.

EDIT: In regards to microing the fairy, I haven't seen a need yet (I'm only 40 though). You will need to micro the level 40 buff from Selene, since it auto casts the spell speed one, and ignores the skill speed one all together. From what I've read, Obey doesn't work properly. It's supposed to spam it's first skill in Obey, but the faeries supposedly just do nothing, so you'd have to fully micro it. Steady isn't really something you use either, since issuing any command breaks steady and swaps it to sic.

The main things you'll want to have readily available (from my experience) for the pets are just Move and Follow. Pets take 80% reduced damage from AoE (1000 needles hits the pets for 200 w/ just the pet as a target), but instant kill effects like doom will still kill them, so you'll want to be able to control the faeries movement when needed. Follow is just needed for resetting the movement after you manually move it.

I personally DoT and spread when I get time. The further along you get, the harder it can be (depending on the mobs). In Stone Vigil, I was able to contribute damage through DoTs up until the start of the final boss. Once we started and I did my initial DoTs, it was full time healing. Part of this was mine, and the tank's, inexperience with that boss. (both on run him 2-3 times tops)

I tend to run with my faerie's heal on my hot bar. While the ai is decent at keep up party members, when your tank is taking a beating it can be very nice to have that level of control. I often will queue her up to heal while I cast stone skin, or set her to heal just before I run out of an aoe. This gives me the ability to do things that, left to it's own devices, the ai won't do as well as to have a real priority in the heal targets.

It is my hope they will fix the obey/guard bug so that I can micromanage her even more, but for now this is enough to keep me going through most fights.

TTD is really difficult to tank. All my tank friends say it was the worst dungeon. There's a lot of mobs to hold aggro on and they don't have provoke yet. I've run it as dps with a scholar and even an experienced tank will have a very hard time holding hate. It gets easier for tanks to hold hate as they gain my skills.

tbh we should have control over auto skills for our pet. Sort of like a toggle switch~

perhaps even have a way to set the pet to focus on your "focus target" when it comes to healing.

no it's an easy dungeon if the tank rotate through the mobs or if the thm sleeps.... but the mantis do hit pretty hard especially when they gang up against the tank all at the same time, and the need to dump a few big heals will draw a lo of hate if the tank hasnt at least done 2 flashes / overpowers.

It's a tank problem, not urs.

Holding aggro has never been a problem in any pull, with the only exception that DPS full burst dmg right after pull (blood for blood + inner release).

Oh, and provoke is not required. The only use for provoke is usually when you die and rezzed, or the other tank die and you have to switch in.
