Why Leave After 3 Mins?

I had to leave a DF party twice because of 2 things:

1) 1 party had a great tank but a CNJ that didn't heal at all ( only healed himself if he was hurting >.>)
2) Another party had a Great healer, but since tank didn't use flash at all, all the mobs went to the mages and they both died ( then the tank died as well)

Both occasions I have repeated ask those people to please use "Flash" or "Cure the tank" in the nicest way possible, they refused to listen and died 6 times in each party.

Then I left the party.

I always give EVERY PARTY a fair shake, but if I don;t see progression of some sort at all, that's when I leave.

As a tank I left as soon as I saw this stupid healer wearing the weaver artifact gear, please. Gear score worked fine in other mmo's, stop complaining

The problem isn't that AF = bad, it's just the fact that people can't perform well enough with it. They need better gear to make-up for the lack of skill they have. Sure the better gear helps, but it only improves your performance at your current skill level. You can tell the difference even comparing people with top gear. The better play will always do more damage/healing/tanking. Where you can REALLY see the difference is when the better skilled players out perform better geared people with less gear. Iv'e seen it happen before.

I wish everyone would stop with "gear makes you good" attitude. It's a cop-out.

So a Bard in AF can't do enough dps to complete this fight? Is there a why? What piece of gear makes them able to attempt this?

If I get the Darklight body, is that +6 Dex and less Crit going to make me able to obliterate all?

Small numbers make a big difference in this game. DPS checks like Titan's heart are won or lost based on pure DD output. It's bad enough that the duty finder puts you in an unfavorable position by only having 4 DDs (Groups that have beaten it often use 5 DDs or 3 healers instead of 2 tanks) but when you add people coming in with anything but optimized gear it quickly becomes a problem. You have to make the absolute most out of the 4 DDs you have.

For the heart phase, you seriously need every little bit that you can. It's a strict dps check. Everybody needs to be on the ball and dealing high dps to kill it in time. Doing 10 less damage every attack can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Yes... because all those people speed spamming Castrum Meridianum for DL gear are automatically better than others that have not. In fact, I just got done with a "speed run" of Castrum Meridianum where almost everyone sucked. Got full DL but can't dodge big red circle moves?... You're awesome! /sarcasm

Gear is necessary but not sufficient. Skill is the same. Necessary but not sufficient. You can't "out skill" a DPS check if your gear only lets you hit 130 when you need to be doing 180.

Gear doesn't make you good, but you need gear to beat the encounters. Why people are willing to ignore this and wail about player skill, like they're god's gift to FFXIV (or any MMO) is something I've never understood.

Skill doesn't prevent you from getting 1shot by unavoidable area wide aoe hits. Skill alone won't make it possible for you to hit the DPS threshold to take down the heart in time.

True, but until we see what the restrictions will be it'll be anyone's guess. If they allow people in with full AF and some lower level accessories then obviously the encounter can be defeated without needing the best gear available.

That said, I agree with everything you said. I'm mainly pointing out the people who blatantly refuse to party with people just by examining gear and not giving them a chance. Which is what a lot of people are doing.

It's not another players job to hep someone who doesn't help themselves. A few Wanderer's Palace runs go a long way.
