SE: Please add cooldown between shouts

SE please make it like you did in FFXI where if someone wanted to shout or yell across an entire zone there was a cooldown for it. RMT are killing shout chart every second with spamming. A 300 second cool down would suffice it is a 5 minute time where normal ppl can use shout if they need to , it also would prevent ppl from having conversations over shout which is equally as annoying as the RMT people.

Why does SE need to implement a cooldown? Are you incapble of blacklisting someone? Taking away shout removes general zone wide conversations that DO take place. The gil spammers are largely only conentrated in the cities and starter areas. Easy way to blacklist is to click the offendors name and pick the "send tell" option. Instead of tell command, replace with /blist Gilspammer (obviously the name would be the one your original command would send the tell to). You're done..no need for SE to waste time.

You blacklist them the same. It's actually easier to do as they aren't nearly as common.

Sorry to keep editing a post..but limited posts per day. This isn't that hard to overcome if you click their name to send them a tell. The command is placed in your text box. You merely replace the /tell (or whatever it is) with /blist. Enlarge your chat box to makes things even easier.

Some MMO players from other games have told me that some games have a level requirement to use the game's Shout feature in order to prevent people from merely making a fast account and then harassing people via shouts.

Perhaps maybe have level 10 be a requirement to use shouts? I'd say level 5 but that can be obtained ridiculously fast.. like within an hour.

Except most of the time they are spamming so fast you cannot see the multiple names doing it. Not to mention this eliminates the issue of people using shout to hold conversations which have no purpose and should be done via tell

10 people should have a tell conversation with each other?

I'm not saying shouting is the most conducive way to have a discussion, but sending tells is hardly any better for large groups of unrelated people. There pretty much isn't a better method of talking to some people across the zone from you than shouting.

Putting that aside, I think everyone agrees that SE should probably try to figure something out with those RMT spammers. Quite horrifying, those.

They should take a more active, hands-on approach and just lockdown accounts as a whole that are suspected of RMT activities. Force them to constantly need to purchase new accounts (or try to hack other ones... which they do anyway). The further in the red they are, the harder it'll be to profit. It won't get rid of them, but it'll certainly make it harder for them to stick around. The earlier they strike, the better, as people don't REALLY need gil yet. It's easy enough to scrounge up gil for our everyday needs. Once new content is released, stuff that might end up needing marketable materials, that might be too late.

Hacked accounts that are used for RMT activities should still be recoverable, but upon repeated offenses (user did not change password, did not attach security token, etc), will be permanently locked. That sort of thing.
