I can't find any evidence of a day of the week through the calendar system displayed in-game? How do people know there are 8 days a week?

We will get patch 1.18 mid june as stated in the new letter. That would make this kind of true(or at least close to it).

2 and a half weeks doesn't even put you in June.
But yea I'm still wondering if anything is going to happen soon, or do we have to wait for the next patch.
Sorry to break the days in a month topic haha but I am SO sad I missed this dude! This is such a cool idea and I love the sense of 'impending doom' XD
Has anyone seen anything else? Was this only step one or what?

In the arcanist, thaumaturge's and conjurer's guilds there are a collection of "dusty tomes" that talk about the elements, time and ages. They describe the cycle of ice>water>wind>lightning>fire>earth. This cycle combined with astral and umbral make the set of 8 days in a week. Four sets of this cycle create a month of 32 days.
The months themselves also follow a cycle of astral and umbral elements. The seventh moon is the astral lightning moon, which is represented by Byregot the builder. I'm not sure if this protends to anything.
Saw him again today at Horizon. I copied down what he said and finally used a translator on it. The translation seems a bit broken but it was in German so here:
Eure Kraft allein vermag es, die sich in ständigem Wandel befindliche Zukunft zum Guten zu wenden.
Translated > Your strength alone is there, in a process of constant change the future turn for the better.
Begehrt es euch danach, die Wahrheit zu erfahren?
Translated > Sought-after it, then you find out the truth?
So höret mir aufmerksam zu, ihr ehrbaren Abenteurer!
Translated > So hear me carefully to your noble adventurers!
Ein Sturm zieht auf und dieses Menetekel sei euch Mahnungder unsere Welt auf fürchterliche Weise verändern wird ...
Translated > A storm is brewing and this Portent you Mahnungder on terrible way will change our world ...
Bald sinkt herab die sechste Sonne, indes der silbern überfang’ne Mond Da glüht herab ein Lohenregen, aus Wolken, denen Höllenchaos innewohnt Die in Mezayas Prophezeiung beschriebene Siebte Katastrophe steht uns unmittelbar bevor ...
Translated > Soon drops down the sixth sun, however, the silver uberfang'ne moon because it glows a Lohenregen descended from clouds, which is inherent in Hollenchaos Mezayas prophecy described in the seventh disaster stands us directly before ...
Verschließt euch nicht vor der Wahrheit! Erwachet und erhebet euch gegen euer Schicksal!
Translated > You do not need closes before the truth! Awake and lift up you against your fate!
has anyone spoken to the guards outside ishgard? just curious if they are saying anything different.
Not to my knowledge. I spoke to them a few days ago when I posted up the new dialogue for the NPCs at Camp Dragonhead, and I believe their dialogue is still the same. They still say the gates to Ishgard won't open until the voice of Halone the Fury is heard. But you could speculate that with what's happening, maybe we will hear Halone the Fury? I'm not sure. But it's fun to think what it could mean with the recent occurences :) I'm not going to get my hopes up though.

Apparently there is an NPC that pops near Uldah Repair NPC/ADV Guild Fountain (mine was named Alfgar)...you can talk to him for a Lodestone Achievement for your character. He pops and depops but current speculation is he pops same time the GM (Urianger Augurelt) on the world pops. Needs more verification.
Achievement is called:
Seventh Moon Rising
"You have heard rumors of suspisicious individuals appearing near aetherytes and prophesizing the end of the world."
