    Petty? (Lodestone related)

I got into a huge debate about how at higher level partying it's a good idea to wear your job. I provided a users lodestone as an example to back up my claim resulting in everyone grabbing their pitchforks to chase me down with. Ultimately ruining my intended post.

So why is it petty, I didn't want people to hunt down the person, I merely wanted to show my story wasn't a farce. As far as I know you can't even post on someone's lode or view anything without there consent. So what's wrong with showing their lode?? If someone can point me to a TOS that directly states you cannot link to someone else's I'd appreciate it..

Putting someone out there like that when they haven't done anything wrong is a shitty thing to do, whatever your intentions.

i took a look at that there thread, it seems to me a lot of the posters don't realize that the Job crystal adds a non-trivial amount of stats on top of enabling the job specific skills. I've only unlocked paladin, but i can tell you at lvl 44, if you don't have shield oath, you're gonna have a bad time. Also for Paladin i lose a little over 200 HP and over 300 MP if i un-equip my Paladin Crystal and i'm betting there is a similar non-trivial effect for other classes and their jobs.

From research, looks like at lvl 44 whm's abilities are Presence of Mind (faster casting for 10 seconds but at a 300 second cooldown), Regen (150 potency with a 21 second duration at a trivial cooldown), and Divine Seal (30% cure potency boost for 15 seconds with only a 60 second cooldown). Those are non-trivial abilities for a healer, both for healing the party and for healing themselves.

That gamefaqs thread looks like kneejerk "screw you, i do what i want" BS from people who do not understand the implications of not having your job equipped at lvl 44 and/or don't get how your performance impacts everyone else you party with for the most part.

That said, posting someones lodestone and essentially pointing out how they suck is not something people respond well to. You could have easily argued your point with without naming the person, a story about how someone queue'd up without a job equipped is easily believable without pointing directly at someone.

I could have yes. But I assumed it'd have been better to have something or else I'd have been marked for trolling. I was going on past experiences which I guess in hindsight the general consensus is that I shouldn't have done it. Really if the lode wasn't as open as it is I'd have never assumed it to not be a big deal.

I think your first mistake was posting on the GameFAQ forums. Don't get me wrong, they can have some resourceful posts, but I've seen more than enough douchebaggery on there to know to avoid reading beyond the first few posts before it devolves into some childish debate.

That said, I agree with you; Once you hit 30 you should be looking at getting your sub-class up so you can get your job sorted out. I had a run with a level 44 MRD tank and it was quite painful, to the point where the DPS quit. Odd part was, I'm pretty sure he had his GLD to level 15, heh. And you also made a good point that it isn't about the individual in a dungeon, it is about the group as a whole. If he wants to 'play the way he wants', then he shouldn't be surprised when people bail on him/he keeps failing; jobs definitely give you access to some pretty amazing utility skills. (I cry a little when I help someone lower levelled on my SCH and lose a chunk of them)

Incidentally, it is generally the bad players, or the ones doing something wrong, that get worked up and start raging/getting frustrated, eventually putting the blame on everyone else.

If my posts seem short or incoherent, I am probably editing the rest in.

I went through the linked thread (lot of poo slinging there). While the healer would've benefitted from being a whitemage, I'm more inclined to believe he/she was undergeared which contributed more to his/her failure than not having a job equipped. I'm not knowledgable about the WHM vs CNJ healing capabilities. Even if properly geared, I do believe the healer would've had a harder time as a CNJ. It could be done, I'm sure but definately making things harder. Same would apply as doign the fight with a GLD vs a PLD. A good player (with strong healer support) coudl likely do it, but certainly making things harder than necessary.

Not having Regen is a huge detriment, regardless if you're undergeared or not.

Doesn't matter what or how you post on gamefaqs, you're gonna get trolled. Some people just really have nothing better to do with their lives.

I'm sorry but the GameFaqs FFXIV community is quite possibly the rudest, most immature community for this game that there is. That being said, I am never a fan of public call outs of people when they are not around to defend themselves.

Point taken I've no intent to use it like that again.
