    Hemisphere protect

When I first saw the trailer of FFXIV some time ago I very liked the idea of the spell casted by a WHM Miqo'te that looked like some protect hemisphere.

Does this spell exist in game? If not, I think it would be quite awesome to add it to game.

At the risk of sounding sarcastic, I'm pretty sure that spell was probably Protect.

You see it at least twice - once in the trailer cinematic viewable from the start screen where it is cast by a female Lalafel. The second time it is used by the miqo'te Y'shtola aboard the ferry in the Limsa opening sequence if you chose that as your starting city.

Given the apparent competency of both conjurers, I would not be surprised if this is a spell learnt only after rank 50.

I thought that too, but Protect works differently in game. It creates small barrier around every character, not one big barrier.

It'd be cool if it was implemented but honestly, you'd need more of an action oriented mmo for that kind of spell. Like lot's of moving around and stuff. I just couldn't see it being implemented in XIV

Well, in FFXI there were a few cutscenes where we saw mages casting Meteor... but we can't cast that in game.

In that case (and this case), it's artistic license to do cool stuff during cutscenes. I agree it's pretty cool, but you can't really expect them to give you an invincible shield as a spell.

Halo: Reach has a shield sort of like that. The only way you can get damaged is if someone actually gets in it and throws a grenade or shoots you inside. That shield made me think EXACTLY of Halo: Reach.
I KNOW the analogy is crazy lol

It's funny that you mention this. I started in Limsa and your totally right. I have not seen a spell like that at all. Yet. But,

I'm thinking it could very well be the Rank 68 spell; Protect III.

It's a classic Final Fantasy tradition: people doing the most awesome things in cutscenes that you'll never be able to do yourself
