I joined Maelstrom but was given Twin Adder barding?

Today I completed the main storyline quests that normally would next lead to the "My Little Chocobo" quest. I selected The Maelstrom as my Grand Company, mainly for the red gear/chocobo barding.

Since I had already earned my chocobo whistle in v1.0, the Maelstrom command NPC was not offering me the quest. I retrieved my old whistle from the Calamity vendor and was able to summon my chocobo, but was shocked to see it wearing the yellow barding of the Twin Adders instead of the Maelstrom.

My grand company seals had been saved and correctly transferred to Storm seals, so I was expecting my chocobo to be wearing the correct barding for my company. Is this just a glitch or an oversight or working as intended? I hope it was just a glitch and that I can submit a ticket to get the correct barding on my chocobo.

I realize that as I progress through the ranks, I could purchase barding from the Maelstrom, but that will take quite some time and a lot of seals. I feel pretty silly riding around as a member of the Maelstrom on a Twin Adders mount. Very disappointing.
