I don't get how people think it's acceptable that your screen is often rendering a very inaccurate portrait of what's happening in the world. It's not just limited to Titan, but having a false rendition of the world is just especially glaring on a fight with very tight time limits to get out of near instant kill abilities. In any other game, if you attempt to tell people "but I dodged that!', nobody would believe you because it's a fundamental assumption that cast bar/telegraph area are in sync in a MMORPG. But this game, it's definitely a very valid thing to say, and that's precisely what's wrong with the game.
This is much! I don't understand why there's no other option but to have this obvious disconnect between the games visuals vs it's mechanics. I've never known them in other MMO's several years old. I see no reason why SE can't keep up with outdated standards. It's gotten to the point where I literally run INTO the aoe's at certain points because I know the server won't realize I'm really there. That's just sad.
I could never get away with that in other MMO's at launch. See no good reason why I should settle for less here.
I play SWTOR endgame, and have been pretty much since the game came out. SWTOR has had it's problems, but it's never had this obvious disconnect between when AoEs visually go off and when they actually happen.
I'm known as a pretty decent healer on SWTOR. In fact I have two healer characters, in two raid group that are part of the top guilds on my server. I don't get caught in AoEs unless I loose focus or do it on purpose, and my character dies or looses health immediately when he gets hit on my screen.
Honestly, FF14 is the first MMO I've played with this server lag/visual disconnect/whatever you want to call it issue.

The closest SWTOR or any MMORPG have a similar problem is 'fire burns in a bigger area than they appear', as in you stand what appears to be the edge of some hazard but the actual area is bigger than that so you die anyway. But that's got nothing to do with lag and it's easy to figure out that the fire burns bigger than it appears after a few deaths. In FF14 the telegraph boxes are generally accurate, but you're not where you think you are most of the time.
You can't phrase a question like 'can anyone get out of AE at 99% cast bar?' because someone will always claim they can, because they'd think they're good. Rather you need to frame the question in a negative way, like "Is there someone who can NEVER finish casting a spell while moving while I can do it like a champ every time?" After all, if you can get out of an AE at 99%, that means you're actually always in sync with server, and if you're always in sync with server, then you can never move and cast because that's only possible when you're out of sync with the server. If you can never move and finish casting, then you have no server lag.
I have started filing ingame bug reports with descriptive text about the issue and a link to this thread as evidence. I would suggest the rest of you do the same thing.
Now that's said - Page 117 and still no dev response. Someone needs to get in on those live developer streams and bombard it with questions about fixing this game breaking bug/defect so that it has to be answered.
