Its gonna be a repeat of monster hunter:
(warning, story incoming)
Once upon a time, Monster Hunter (1 and 2) had the worst controls of any game ever. Specifically, the camera was controlled by the D-pad and the right analog was used to attack. And this was on PS2 for god sake.... It was god awful. Because you couldn't zoom out super far, camera control played a major part in every encounter. It was honestly a mess.
but the game was fun DESPITE this flaw, not because of it.
At any rate, these games were considered tough. The learning curve was relatively high and death was all but certain the first time you challenged a new enemy.
Then.....
Monster Hunter Tri was released on Wii. At last, players could use the right analog the way it was meant to be used... for the camera. It was indeed the improvement that should have always been. The result was all Monster Hunter veterans complaining that the game had been dumbed down and made easy. The truth is, it only felt easier because the unintuitive controls and gameplay no longer got in the way of actually playing the game.
If FFXIV fixed lag and delay to be on par with just about every other MMO (free or otherwise) on the market, the result would be everyone with relics, and Titan being a joke.
In that case, SE could just randomize Titans attacks, since at that point players will actually be able to "react" as opposed to "predict"
Just my 2 cents
I haven't read through this entire thread because it is far too long, but I have a suggestion for those of you experiencing lag. I know we shouldn't have to fix it ourselves, but I've been using Smoothping, which has really helped make the game's reticles feel like how they are supposed to be. Either way, definitely take a look into it. They have a free trial.
Yes welcome to the new generation of MMO! We will be adding more and more server and skill lag to make the game harder instead of coming up with innovative ways to really make mechanics harder. Difficult should not be based on ones ability to make up for latency, it shoud be based on fun mechanics.
Shit is not difficult, this game has the same mechanics as every other MMO... DONT STAND IN SHIT LOL. But with the horrible ability and server lag it is almost impossible at times to get out of it unless you move before it shows up.

Though the help is appreciated I doubt that will help me, my ping is like 50ms. If it can reduce the additional 333ms that the game has implanted, it might help. I cant even imagine what ppl with 100+ have to deal with. I don't have a lot of problems with titan but mostly because I am casting immediately after I get out of stuff, which updates my location. The problem is I should not have too.I haven't read through this entire thread because it is far too long, but I have a suggestion for those of you experiencing lag. I like the fight, it's intense although it can be argued to delay attacks by .5 sec to make up for the server delay. What I don't like is that it is required to be killed to get access to the raid. It's a nice duty to do on the side to get your relic but it totally limits the player pop for raiding, especially on my server.
I don't want a Rep to comment anyways, I want Yoshida to comment.
Couple days until the free month is over, right? Oh wait, server issues... they extended it didn't they?
When does the free month for new players end?
Tick tock.
