Bumped, also not sure why this is suddenly a discussion about endgame completion bragging and WoW when the topic is pretty clear in the OP.

i dont understand why they kept 90% of the underlying code, seems like they managed to actualy make the netcode worse than 1.0
It's so infuriating with this game too because the game itself is amazing, but it's insanely clunky to play compared to any other AAA title and it has been since beta. The game could be so much better
I'm really curious what other MMORPG people have been playing that allows you to move with around 0.3s left to cast and still completing a spell, assuming that this is an action you're not supposed to be able to do in the said MMORPG. The lag of this game is pretty much on another level compared to virtually any MMORPG out there.

About a second of lag when casting spells. Must be my ISP's fault.
I haven't read through every page, but has anyone addressed the issue with the first boss in Wanderer's Palace? When he does that phlegm attack that forms the circle around the player, there really is hardly any time to escape that. As a white mage, I've already committed to automatically casting Esuna on the player when I see them circled because it's near impossible to escape.
Square, please run a query on your end to see the ratio between successful dodges and failed dodges. I'm sure this will serve as further evidence, as you will find the ratio at a terrible imbalance.
The 'problem' with it is that it's actually faster than the circle indicates, which means it's actually out of sync rather than it being "lag" since while it's not impossible to dodge, you definitely can't rely on any indication other than him turning to puke on you.I haven't read through every page, but has anyone addressed the issue with the first boss in Wanderer's Palace? As for the "imbalance" - you do realize not everyone failing to dodge is due to lag, right? Some people just simply can't dodge certain things so you're right about imbalance, because a typical one would just count people failing to dodge in general, which includes people just failing to do so on their own accord.
Its a damn shame that this really is an issue. I've literally watched a buddy of my in my FC avoid things time and time again and get hit by stuff regardless. Titan is pretty much unplayable for her and people get crappy thinking she's not paying attention.
I hope you also realize that the majority of people are probably failing for that exact reason (lag). Whether it be because they haven't memorized the steps for Titan yet, and therefore can't pre-move (I mean really, you shouldn't have to and if a person doesn't read the forums then they may not know that), or because the delay is so bad for them that even with pre-moving a bit they still get hit, it happens a ton. The phelm thing in WP is -exactly- like Weight on Titan, and it's due to the way the server and client communicate, in association with latency. However phelm doesn't happen in a set rotation, so it's not something you can pre-move on reliably. This same thing would be happening in Titan if the Weight attack was random. I say a majority because the whole strategy for Titan is to pre-move. If the majority of people didn't have to pre-move to beat the fight (which you shouldn't if lag didn't exist), then the strategy would not be to do that.As for the "imbalance" - you do realize not everyone failing to dodge is due to lag, right? Short story, we don't know who isn't actually dodging, and who is at this point because the communication between server and client is crap. So instead, we get players that continually call others bad when said player is successfully dodging on their screen, which compounds the frustration that player feels.
The underyling issue is actually indeed skill. The lag is consistently reliable that you can basically think of any ability cast as having the first 0.3s chopped off (because your client receives the information late), and the last 0.3s of the cast bar chopped off (this part should be self explanatory). Problem is, if you're in a game like WoW or anything else and they aim to make something exactly as hard as FF14, then they'd just chop off the 0.6s off the entire cast bar, since the lag unique to FF14 does not apply. People who can't dodge the AE in FF14 will still be unable to dodge them in WoW, but it'd be obvious why you can't dodge it. You'd clearly see that you are still in the circle when the castbar completes and conclude that you screwed up (or blame the game for being too harsh). Harsh abilities that you have a split second to dodge is hardly new to FF14, but you don't see same complaints because in any other game, you can clearly see it is indeed you who screwed up.
In FF14, because the castbar is inaccurate, people blame on the game, but the game deserves the blame for showing a castbar that is essentially wrong. So while it is indeed skill that caused you to failed to dodge a WotL, you can't blame people for getting angry given the castbar you're supposed to measure your skill against is not accurate. In any other MMORPG you can conclude if you beat the castbar, then your skill has trumped game mechanisms. This is not true in FF14. This is also why if you're simply good enough (or memorized pattern), you won't screw up because you just have to beat the AE by more than 0.6s and then there's no possibility of you getting hit, and people can be that good.
