You're implying there's a universal "right" and "wrong" that exists outside the context of the game mechanics and the rules we all agreed to when we signed up to play online.

There isn't. The majority can think it's "wrong" but that doesn't make it wrong. Not for everyone, anyway.

If you all are allowed to afk leech, I should be allowed to purchase levels with US dollars. Afk play in any gorm is ethically bankrupt. Might as well make it profitable to the right people instrad of the enemy. We already have people shouting that they will power level people for Gil. Rmt will sell farmed machinated accounts by the job. Heck you don't even have to buy their account, they can just invite you and level you.

This can't work. If the game allows this much ethical slide, might as well allow everything.

Best bet for your alls own good is to do your own work, because god help you if someone else is allowed to do it for you. I could buy a teenager this summer. I could buy two and pretty much be ground out around the clock. All battle jobs at 50 sounds good by august.

@ Gez that is the deffinition of witch hunting. Your making it your buiness to impose on what others are doing and trying to fight against them. You do not know the foull story and should just walk away. These people are doing nothing to you at all and nobody has any right to start trouble for others. This crap ruins mmo communities.

Bacisly this is a sort of shindlers list. People want to find the "afk leechers" and make it known who they are, so they can be "shuned". OPs words.

Honestly you guys are taking this game too seriously. You guys are also loosing grip on reality.

What is next? shun people who run around aimlessly? Shun people for not leveling battlecraft jobs?

We already have a thread about caping dungeons so OTHER PEOPLE can't "abuse them". The more you restict everyones play for your twisted sence of justice, the less fun this game will be. And the harder it will be on all players.

Only solution is to mind your own dam buiness. The way you guys are acting is ruining my enjoyment.

Funny thing about that is that it's allowed in the game mechanics, but RMT is against the terms of service. Therefore, you should not be allowed to do so and thus it's already covered. No need to worry about something as "morally scrupulous" as buying levels. You simply have to auto-follow your friends. It's much easier and cheaper.

Yes, you could. Though, if you pay them I suspect this falls into the "RMT" category again. Since SE has no way of enforcing this type of "RMT" you're pretty much golden if you're hell bent on buying some levels. Really, though, you could just ask your friends to level you round the clock and you wouldn't be breaking any rules or violating any game mechanics. Friends don't count as 3rd Party Programs.

I don't get your point. Morality is set by the developers rules and by the individual playing who sets his own standards and sometimes by society itself (outside the game) such as "stealing is wrong, even if the game lets you do it."

It's like you're trying to tell me I cheated on my homework because I let friends help me or do it for me when the guidelines clearly state "group work encouraged." You're just imposing rules you think there should be, but aren't.

Those rules are great for you. Until the game itself changes, I'll just play by the game's rules, though.

(Note: Even after it changes, I'll still play by the new rules, just in a way I see fit within the guidelines. Not a way you see fit. It's between me and the creators of the mechanics.)

i cant think of any way to prevent this other than going back to SE's original SP format of gaining SP through actions. And we all know how well that system worked =/ well most of us at least hehe.

Yeah. I thought it was great. I was in the minority, though.

My first thought: Sweet! No more AFK leveling!

My second thought: Now if only there was a minimum so I don't get 0 SP every 5th fight.

Difference between me and a lot of players is I wouldn't ask a friend to drag me around and be my workhorse. Don't mix business with pleasure, otherwise are they really your friend.

We have so many bot-crafters on wutai that a good quarter of the products on the market shouldn't even be there. On any given night you can crawl the corners of Uldah and find some prominent player picking at large quantities of iron ore. Bunch of cheating wannabes. Starting to be the same way with jobs.

Same thing with getting discounts from friends. Why screw a friend out of what a stranger would give them? Are they not your friend? Give them more. They'll refuse to take more because you're their friend, then you end up giving them either the market price for their service or you give each other free things. In the end, same difference. I just prefer straight market price because that automatically corrects for any tit for tat imbalance.

Too many leeches make too much use of the "friends get discounts" clause. That's an ethical violation.
Same way with this. You know many players will try to take more than they receive out of this.

This is not about morals. This is an ethical concern. AFK advancement is an ethics issue. You do not deserve that reward. Your "friend" does.

"May I have a cookie, friend?"
    "Here have three!"
    "Oh thank you, how generous."
"FOOL! Thou art a freeloader and a cheat! Get out of mine MMO, harpy queen that is not my friend!"

Morals are relative, and even the most stringent of game have their limits on what they can and cannot control. This is a game, not a sweatshop.

Of Course, since Peregine presumably can't tell the difference, I would suggest he not play.
