    My Gamebreaking Issues

    Hey guys,

    due to the following issues the game is having, I simply can not continue having fun playing.

    1. Animations block actions.
    2. Battle is way too unresponsive. I can almost cast 1s spells while running.
    3. Instant spells are not instant.
    4. Boss AoE attacks + animations are badly out of sync.

    This lag is not caused by "bad" internet connection. I talked to couple Canadian people with 20-30ms and they are having the same issues.
    It's the intended built-in lag SE put in for some reason.


    Please note that I'm in no way complaining about anything, just stating my opinion why I can't enjoy this game any longer. As there is no Feedback forum for the game, I'm just gonna post this here.

    I live in Ottawa and subscribe to Rogers cable Extreme Plus.

    1. Animations block actions.
    PK: Yes I see this for skills not on GCD. I have to wait about 1 second before I can use this.

    2. Battle is way too unresponsive. I can almost cast 1s spells while running.
    PK: Never encountered this problem.

    3. Instant spells are not instant.
    PK: Never encountered this problem. My instant abilities are instant.

    4. Boss AoE attacks + animations are badly out of sync.
    PK: Never encountered this problem. All aoe animitions I had to avoid as tank seem pretty accurate.

    it is NOT just him. This is the way the game works currently.
    "Animations block actions" is not something that even CAN vary from player to player, its the game. And it makes combat a LOT less fun. In fact, the only thing that could possibly be "just him" is #4, and thats not just him.

    Jasdemi your post summed up the MAJOR problems left in this game perfectly. If they can fix this stuff the game would be 100x better.

    I've never experienced #3, but I've seen the others a number of times. They're annoying, but I've gotten used to playing with them.
    Would be fantastic if SE adjusted the combat engine to fix this stuff, though.

    I can categorically state that animations have never blocked actions for me.. I play an Archer so any of that pish would stick out a mile.

    Plus, internet connections DO NOT cause graphical lag. Crap gaming rigs do..

    I think he meant like...for example stun (a supposedly instant-ish off-gdc ability) is only semi off-gdc and not rly instant.

    Anway, OP I and majority of other guildies of mine hear you bout AOE lag. We usually blame it on the good choice of server placement for EU players /sarcasm.

    It's not just him. It looks like in SE's efforts to democratize the game for all the players that were originally locked out due to AFK and artificially low server limits, they are exposing some game design weaknesses with the large user counts of 7500 per world. Hopefully when the extra battlegroup, three new servers, server transfers and trial period players quit, the game gets back to the better network throughput I became accustomed to during closed beta and balances the population better.

    Yes, game engines do cause graphical glitches. With a high end rig I became accustomed to a very snappy response, and as of about two days ago, chocobo and FATE movements have become jerky. It feels like client sampling has been decreased in frequency due to network bandwidth limitations.

    I'm not angry. I'm not trying to start anything. But it's a little annoying on these forums that so many people are dismissive of legitimate complaints they simply haven't seen. (Monty Python)We should be fighting together.... but we are fighting together.

    The AOE lag is just another dynamic that I don't try to talk about because I (used to) have a pretty good ping and am not Oceanic. I'd never try to tell someone they don't have it.

    cast Heavy Shot and then IMMEDIATELY try to use Bloodletter. or Repelling Shot. or Blunt Arrow.
    You will NOT be able to use any of these off-GCD abilities until the animation for Heavy Shot finishes (it takes ~1 full second)
    This is not just Heavy Shot but really any attack with an animation.

    cast Raging Strikes and then IMMEDIATELY try to cast Barrage.
    Both of these are instant with no GCD, but you will have to wait until the animation for Raging Strikes is done before you can cast Barrage (again, around 1-1.5 seconds)

    These issues have NOTHING to do with gaming rig. Its the way the game is built.
