    NPC's and gil sink..

Why doesn't SE make it so that the NPC vendors can be purchased by players for a selected amount of time, say 24-48 periods? We all drop gil into vendors, gil simply vanishes, unless it is put back into the economy show how (but I doubt that). But if we all could purchase vendors for a short time and them the cycle repeats for other players over and over again, we continual put gil back into the player economy.

It could have some restrictions so the same players could not hoard a NPC vendor, say you can only purchase one once every 2 weeks or something as such.

Just an errant thought, seemed a cool one when it popped into my head, but I am not sure it is feasible to be honest.

What about all the drops and rewards from quests what you're collecting, how would you classify this if not an "input" to the economy?

I really fail to see any meaning or even basic functionality in what you're proposing ... what exactly would be benefit of that?

    1) Buying people is wrong. >

    2) RMT would bot and monopolize every NPC in the game. Restrictions only work against legitimate players; getting around restrictions is what RMT do for a living.

    3) Even if they could stop that from happening, this would be a nightmare to balance. They'd have to monitor just how many NPCs were suddenly being turned from gil sinks into gil exchanges, and that will vary wildly from server to server. It's much easier to balance the flow of gil in and out of the economy with simple, predictable gil sinks.

    But buying people is fun

I didn't know if it would be good or bad, in all honesty, this is my first MMO and it was just a random thought. I am sure those of you that have played many MMO's, know far better than myself.

Aren't gil sinks necessary to prevent the economy collapsing?

i.e. too much money makes everything worthless.

Edit: Oh, finally, my avatar updated.
