Macro so you stop pulling aggro

From the guy who gave you the super lazy bard macro
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...62#post1233462

Another Gem for you over zealous DPS. A very basic macro that some may not know about.

Use this macro to make sure you are never attacking something the tank isn't on.

First, use "set focus" hotkey on your tank. Default is Shift+F

Macro - set to a button that is within your reach, does not need spamming

    /target <f>
    /assist

With a press you will set your target to the tank's target. Makes it very unlikely you will pull threat if you manage your dps effectively. Use it a few secs into a pull, hit it again if you think target may have changed. every 10 secs or so is safe. Enjoy not looking like a fool!

Or someone can just mark a target with a "1" (and so on) and you don't have to worry about the tank switching targets or having to wait for some tanks who cycle slower then others... Just a thought.

This /assist method is best used with raids and groups you know... who generally don't have to be told on the forums how to not pull threat.

My FC tanks mark all their targets, PUG tanks don't so I mark one target at a time. If the tanks really care which mob we kill first they'll mark, otherwise they'll let the DPS manage it and work on keeping agro locked down. Haven't had any issues with tanks who put effort in to it. Can't make a bad tank good by babysitting what target they swap to every few seconds, that's their job to manage threat within means, it's the DPS job to not burn to hard when the tank is doing their job.

I do agree with you that it should be wholly unnecessary to have to use a /assist macro in pug dungeons, but it's come to that point. Even with a target marked, people are misclicking or not tab targeting to the right one before blasting away. To make it worse, once pulled, the DPS are scrambling like ants and putting pressure on the healer. If everyone assisted tank, then things would go a lot smoother.

You can also macro it so you target the tank and set you spell to cast on his target
    /ac Fire <tt>

So this would work well for a healer that needs tank as their target but wants to throw some dps out as well. Thank you for this

This only works if your tank is marginally competent. I can pull aggro on single targets that the tank is actively tanking with many of the DF tanks I've had. Apparently hitting 3 skills in sequence is super difficult.

I bound my assist to R, much closer to my main buttons (1~4). I press it very often to see what the tank is focusing on.

I've definitely pulled aggro on a target the tank is actively attacking, so it's not always as easy as just setting up a macro. It's really not difficult to pay attention to your enmity bar.
