Vanity is 50% the reason to play a MMO.

50%? It 70% to me, aka I regard character customization higher than anything else. Not that a very good customization will make a bad game playable, but a bad customization can make a good game unplayable to me. >.>


If everyone looks the same, or too many do, then I'm not going to enjoy the game regardless if it is good besides character appearance options. It makes a game bland/boring to the eyes to me, cause I like visually appealing stuff and looking at a wide range, not same ones, problem? >.>

But well, put me down in favour of.. making sure they don't conveniently forget about that promise as they have some others, at the very least.

I'm extremely picky when it comes to my character's appearance and having to level up in all those ugly outfits have been eating away at my soul lol. I'd personally prefer if the vanity system was similar to Rift's (or, heck, even DCUO), but I'll be fine regardless. I just want it in the game.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the system in FF XIV will be akin to WoW's transmogrification. In this other MMORPG, transmogrification is the ability to give any item you own the appearance of another item of the same kind (same slot, same type), notwithstanding certain limitations (such as the items being both in your possession, both equipable by your character/class, and of "uncommon" or better quality).

Ick, it better not only be limited to only certain quality grades. Most of the higher quality stuff is undyeable and the type of ulgy designs people would be using this system to get away from.
