Name Change

I know there are a number of things that need some revisiting in the game, but I'm sure you've thought about changing your character's name at one point or another.

Why not, instead of making a completely new character, create some sort of name change option? I've come across other players who create more toons with similar names as their mains. Sure, they may just be holding a few items and gil, but in the end, you want to have something a little more personal in relation to the character you make. I say this because FF, in general, makes incredible story lines, and you would like something unique to tie in with these epic stories. As the story progresses, you feel more part of it and later realize your name could use some work. I'm not saying have something that will continue to allow names changes, but maybe a limit of three or so per character.

Aside from the connections one makes with the story, players also have a tendency of misspelling names. I'm sure you've run around in your server and seen someone with a name that made no sense and didn't know. Well now they would have a chance to correct that. It takes way too long to rank a character's classes to start a new one over.

Finally, you may have not known that the second name line was going to be your last name. How many people do you see running around with two same names? They too, can have one or three opportunities to change their name and be satisfied when continuing playing the game. I can gladly pay for service if I saw this option in the game, along with the many other issues it needs fixing.

I totally agree with this almost every other MMO on the market has some sort of name change option weather it be paid or not.

I would rather not see this. Esp when payment starts and people have only 1 char or limited alts. I liked how in ff11 you got to know people and the reputation they had build for themselves.

IMO name, race and server changes should be allowed....paid, but allowed.

Paid to restrict this usage...would be very annoying the same person being with a "new" character in a different world every week.

I think this works best the way it's done in WoW, maybe done the same way in other MMO's too(i dunno). As mentioned above, pay for extra services, Name change, Race&Gender change and server change should all be done through small payments. I really hope developers allready has plans for this because there have been many times i've regretted my last name(it's stupid and heavy and i came up with it while i was in a real rush to start playing and just hurried away, ofc. i dont wanna start over now!) and im still unsure about my race(beeing a male highlander), playing PGL as main im afraid that i will not look as cool as other races/genders in the game with PGL gear. Because so much PGL gear look too feminine IMO!

I've also read about the new race-gender combinations planned for PS3 release and i feel that all who are paying subscriptions by then should get one free opportunity to change the race/gender/name(per character that is currently beeing paid for) after this.

And with whatever other large changes also coming up, like the new job system and combat system (i for one created a female hume to play THM, but i thought the combat system didnt work with casters so i rerolled to a male melee focused character, and if they change alot to how caster battling feels i'd might like to try it out, but then i've gotta start over(A male highlander is not suited to be a THM IMO!).) we might see that we in general wanna play something else and our name/race/gender doesent seem to fit your new plans but you dont wanna loose it all by making a new char.

I play a Lalafell, but every day since the monsters became 3x bigger than me, I wished I was a bigger race. I feel very insignificant and evolutionarily impossible. I don't see how marmots weren't eating Lalafell young as snacks in the neolithic age of Eorzea. Humor aside, though, I feel disproportionate to the world now and if they ever allow us to switch races (such as introducing new races/genders and giving us 1 free switch) I may be tempted simply due to this odd feeling that I'm in a world of giants as a Lalafell.

I never felt this way as a Tarutaru and they are quite noticeably smaller than Lalafell. I'm not fond of the giant rats and marmots that haunt my dreams at night.

I hate to say it, I am one of those players who is terrible at spelling, I named my Miqo'te Praire Flower, if you couldn't tell I slept my First name wrong... It makes me cringe looking at my own named after a LS member corrected me on it 5 months after I made my character. I would love to just rename my character, and forget the past that is always lurking behind me and my character. /blush

@ Lienn: I understand your concern for having a "new" character in a different world. Maybe they just didn't like more than their name and decided to start over. It's a shame to lose all the time already invested in the game with your primary character though. And having a limit, or possibly a charge for it would make players think twice about going for a change.

@ LIt4g0: Totally with you on this one. I just hope they even release a version on the PS3. I've heard talks about it possibly not happening. Let's hope for the best though. And yes, the combat system needs quite some work. I think it's one of the developer's main objectives.

@ Shai: That is something I didn't think about at all! I have heard of players not being able to see because a giant Dreamtoad has swallowed them whole! So either some mobs need to come back down, or allow character changes as well.

@ Allcars: Sorry bro, I did think of you when commenting about the misspelling. No biggie though, hopefully this comes about in some way or another.

I agree with a payment option or people would mindlessly change their name 10x throughout the week.As long as I could see a players previous name or atleast keep the changed name on my blacklist I wouldn't mind. I'm a big beleiver in people who have a bad reputation keeping the same name just so I know who im dealing with.
