Requesting a Meld When Crafter is Working

I'm a bit annoyed, to be honest. I walk around town, find crafters in certain alleys (I really like that RP aspect), ask for a meld...
(literally: 'May I ask for a meld? ) <- edit for clarity

...but my request isn't processed because the crafter is -you guessed it- crafting.

Can't we request a meld -while- they are working? It's needlessly frustrating at the moment and my fellow guildies aren't always on nor do I like to /shout all the time.
Town chat is spammy enough as is.

Send them a tell first and ask? Trust me, crafters don't want your materia meld request popping up on them while they're crafting, so that isn't going to change.

Yes, send then a tell first. You should always send a tell and not just request something from someone.

Right, because I didn't say I asked for a meld firstly.

Oh, wait, I did (first line).

@Raldo Even though you misunderstood, it's not like the crafter is loosing anything. It's quite the opposite, really. People are so entitled these days. lol
Also, that request can't pop up while they are crafting. That's the reason why I made a threat in the first place.

the way it is worded sound like you just walk up and request a meld so it is easy to misunderstand. the attitude is not needed or people simply wont care to listen to your complaint.

I'm sorry~ It's just that I sincerely dislike people turning words around in my mouth. I can see now that you can it two ways. lol Hence the edit (in a different colour, even).

I'm merely bringing this up as it feels like an inconvenience and as far as I know it feels like Yoshi has the mindset of convenience > rest as it doesn't affect battle or something.
If I'm the only one who feels that way, so be it. But I don't see why giving crafters money is a bad thing. Some here make it sound as if I'd need to /kneel and beg. lol We work with each other, not against.

    its not about the money
I always refuse money from people who request for meld

the thing is you request someone to meld mid craft, and expect SE to implement such a thing?

No, no, no. I'd just like to see that the window where the crafter can decide whether or not he wants to do the job be able to pop up while someone is crafting.
Like in the upper right corner or whatever.
No disruption. Maybe even just a little jingle like with /tell. If the crafter declines then for whatever reason, so be it. At least then I know and can ask someone else. Y'know, make it more convenient. ^-^

On the other hand, I can't see why I crafter wouldn't want to 'help' (unless it's like 10 people asking in a row). The process takes like 3 seconds. You don't loose a thing (do you get exp?) and you probably earn some cash which I thought was like -the reason- why one would level a crafting discipline in the first place (besides being able to gear yourself).
