Why so much hate for an AFK timer?

I see people complaining over stuff like this and wonder why people do. But let's be honest, the people complaining about them adding an AFK timer should really think about it closely.

Why is an AFK timer good?

1. Some servers are still over populated!
2. It enables more people to buy the game after the sales restriction is gone.
3. Makes players lag less in over populated towns, rising performance on low end computers.
4. Improves the server from giving out 90k errors for people who actually want to play.
5. There's no good reason to stay logged in 24/7 anymore. There's an Auction House system now. No more AFKing to sell things.

Why is an AFK Timer bad?

1. None that I can think of, Now if the only way to sell stuff was though the bazzar like in some games like Ragnarok online and FF11, then yeah an AFK timer is a bad Idea.

So summary of the post: AFK timers are good, not only does it unclog over populated servers, they do allow sells to be reopened to the people who want to buy the game and can't due to servers being afk. It also allows people to have better FPS in the game, as there will be less people in town to lag the area with so many characters around. It also relieves stress to servers so less disconnects. There is also no reason to stay log in 24/7 anyway. Go get a life if you think you're in title to be in the game forever.

I work, do stuff around the house, I sleep so I can function at work and do stuff around the house. If I know I won't be back to my game in a 30 minute time period. I log out and let someone who couldn't get in, get in.

So many Rude people in this world, don't care but anyone but themselves.

Guess you guys don't play WoW where they have a AFK timer, or some of the other popular MMO's that do have a AFK timer.

It's pretty sad to see people argue over it, guess they want the game to fail by not let anyone else buy the game. That one of the major reasons why it was instated in the first place.

I guess people live to complain, even if it gets them nowhere.

When it is possible, and even likely that you will have a >30 minute queue for a dungeon, having a 30 minute AFK timer is fucking retarded. end of story.

When registered for duty, are you not still watching to see when the duty starts? All you need to do is bump the movement control and the timer resets.

+1 to OP ... we need afk-timer and though people either want it gone or want an 1 hour timer.. i want an 15 minute timer so be glad they took the middle road. it may just be my experience, but people being afk for long times just should be ready for the problems they face by being that. You want to get some food and take 1 hour? sure... but unless you want to ruin the game-experience for someone else just so you can stand afk and get a sandwich...

Except, in this case, the side that is completely wrong, selfish, and without any merit to their argument are the one's complaining. Yes, it's typical when something being abused gets fixed.

It's not about botting. It kicks people who are just standing around AFK for 30 minutes doing nothing. sure, CAPTCHA would also fix that, but also pointlessly annoy people who ARE at the keyboard pushing buttons anyways, and are not AFK. If you ARE, in fact, just sitting there at your keyboard staring at your screen, doing nothing, just push spacebar every 20-25 minutes.
