I switch between PC/PS3 often, and I play on MANY different PCs. At present, I'm having to use Box to make sure I have my bars and UI setups. It's kind of annoying since it's slow, even if the whole upload is only 13MB.

The whole .dat file system to hold hotbar layout etc was poorly designed... This stuff should always be server side as it has been for every single MMO I've played since EQ. This is especially important for this game since 1 person can play on multiple platforms.

I agree. Currently, I can't use my PS3 copy because I don't want to spend 3 hours re-setting up all my gear sets AND hotbar configurations, only to have to change them EVERY time I switch back and forth between the PS3 and PC.

If this can't be saved server-side, we need a utility program to convert the file formats between the two systems. Since the DAT files are binary, they seem to be incompatible, likely because of the architecture difference between the 64-bit Intel PC system and the 32-bit PPC/Cell architecture of the PS3.

It's a shame they didn't use a standard format like JSON or XML for these.

The game is designed as cross-platform. Many of those players also use PC/PS3 or PC/PS4 simultaneously, depending on the situation.. Or simply preference.
For context.. I'm a Legacy/1.0 player, I played Alpha & Beta of ARR, followed by the PC 2.0 re-launch, I'd bought a PS3 version as a bonus option, but didn't play it much..
PC was always more appealing.. Then PS4 version came out, and it looked far better than PS3. Solely been playing the PS4 version (with Heavensward expansion installed).. Now with the PC's DirectX 11 prettiness, considering going between both again, which would mean also buying Heavensward for PC.. But with inconvenience of having to screenshot practically every menu on PS4 (macros, hotbars for all of my classes/jobs, HUD/config settings)..

There really needs to be a PC <-> PS4 settings transfer system. If Mog Station can utilise cross-platform features, why can't there be a hotbars/settings import/export system for ease of use?

This lack is the reason I haven't bought the PC version. If I could alternate between PC and PS4 I would, but without any ability to transfer these sort of settings other than manually re-creating them from scratch and separately updating each every time you make a change, it's just not feasible. There are likely quite a few players who, like me, would buy the game for multiple platforms if it were possible to coordinate them properly. SE is losing out on sales of the game and expansion by not making a data import/export utility. (And that's not to mention the frustration it's causing to those players who have bought multiple platform versions in spite of that lack.)
