In-Game Export/Import of configuration & UI settings, macros, gearsets, etc

I was wondering if there was plans for a way to sync our macros, gearsets, etc. in the future.

(Unless there is already something built-in that I just did not find out?)

I'm playing both at work (during lunchtime, of course ) and at home and while I don't mind moving them myself manually, an in-game feature would be nice to have.


For those who want to know how to do it manually it's simple:

The folder "C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\FFXIV_CHR00[something]" is where all your settings are stored.

Just copy and paste from a computer to another; make sure to overwrite everything, except for the "Log" subfolder.

This is a pain to do in my house. We have two people playing FF while sharing two computers. Aside from that, each character that you make is listed with separate folders and they do not use the character names on the folders. I was able to figure out which character was which on my machine because I knew the order of creation and was able to look at the files creation dates and luckily he had only logged one of his characters on my machine at this point. I also noticed that deleted characters still had folders left behind. I'm just glad that I looked into mine now with only 7 characters active, 2 deleted, and 1 from another account. Had it been down the road sometime and with no character identification other than a 5 string of alphanumeric code at the end of a longer string of alphanumeric code, I may have just given up! It would be nice to have an in-game feature to take care of that or at least character and world labeling on the original folders.

Also, we are currently looking into a feature that will allow you to import and export each character’s hot bar, gear set, and HUD layout settings.

In addition to moving our settings from PC to PC, will we be able to apply one character's customization to another?

I noticed the deleted characters stay behind also.

A problem I had was the two computers I run the game on use different native resolutions, so the HUD layout is slightly different. I worked out that the ADDON.DAT file holds the HUD layout data and therefore I skip this file when copying. I strongly recommend to anyone to back up the files before overwriting just in case anything goes wrong.

Copying the ADDON.DAT file to another character folder was also how I managed to copy my HUD layout fron one character to another after creating the new character.

Could we also get these settings saved server side? There should be any reason why we have to manually move a file from one computer to another.

This. There's no reason why they shouldn't be saved server side. I haven't played any serious subscription MMO in the last half-dozen years that didn't have this.

Use Dropbox. Make it hold those files (or folders, Ive never tried this), and create symlinks between the normal location and the dropbox folder location. Done.

I hope these settings are changed to be held server side...it's so damn annoying to verify equipment when I switch roles on the PS3 after my gear has changed on the PC, or vice-verse.
