[Cure Limit Break] When To Use It?

I don't understand what a Limit Break is for, especially the Cure version. Please coach me in the use of this function.

I have only run the first two dungeons so far, and I've had no trouble keeping my party alive. I have the icon on my action bar, and I understand that we get a "one-bar" LB when fighting regular bosses, and we get a "two-bar" LB when we reach the final boss, thus boosting the effect of the Limit Break. What I don't understand is:
    1. What does a Limit Break do?
    2. When do I want to use one?

I expect that the post-30 dungeons will be hard on Healers, and that I will need to use the Cure Limit Break at some time during one of those dungeon-runs. So..., please enlighten me.

Basically your limit break as a healer heals your party. The bar gets depleted that way. Different classes have different type of limit breaks: tanks buff the defense of your group and damage dealer version of limit break does big damage. But since your group can only do one limit break when the bar is full, you need to decide who uses it.
Personally I'm a level 40 WHM and I haven't used my limit break even once so far, though I've been tempted to a few times. As a healer I'd advice only to use it when your group would otherwise die.

The healer limit break is AOE healing.

Level 1 is a small AOE and heals I think about half everyone's max HP.

Level 2 is a huge AOE and seems to heal all HP.

Level 3 is a massive AOE that full heals and revives all fallen members.

I found that level 1 is usually not worth using as Medica performs the same function and I think has a larger range, but level 2 and 3 are great and worth using over the DPS limit break if you are fighting a boss your party is new to. Level 2 is great for some dungeon bosses that have a lot of AoE damage and your entire party is hurting. Level 3 is insanely nice but it keeps you occupied for a long time and if you die during the animation for it it will cancel, so you need to be absolutely sure it is safe before you use it.

I think they would be more useful, especially the level 1, if the healer LBs got rid of status effects.

use it when everyone is really low and you know you don't have time/mp to cast medica, although the time issue could be solved somewhat by Switfcast, a lvl 26 (i believe) thm ability.

do note however, that the radius is not very large...

Thank you, all, for the informative replies. You are wonderful.

All I got on general chat were snarky comments and insults, <heavy sigh>.

Am I right in thinking limit break craete a tonne of aggro, and therefore realy shouldnt be used by the healer with the exception of level 3 later in the game? I find the DPS limit break it much for uselfull, just letting the boss get to around 25% HP and BAM its a goner lol

Yeah I think LB's might be exempt from hate or something, because we've never had any hate issues using them when they were needed.

Unless you have level 3 up, and a lot of people are dead, it's usually not worth it. The cast time on it is quite long, and it roots you in place, so in situations where you may want to use it (a lot of people dying quickly, loose mobs running around, etc) it's often better to pop a Medica or two instead - doubly so if you have Swiftcast.
