Easy there; i didn't mean to offend, or imply that you are blowing this out of proportion, but adding new race/gender combinations would be no small undertaking. They would need to update all of the costume assets in the game and that would require a non-trivial investment of time and money. In my opinion, this is probably not something that would be a constructive use of either until much further down the road. If the developers share that opinion, or something like it, then they probably don't want to answer your question, even tentatively, until they can provide you with a satisfactory answer - and the only satisfactory answer they would be able to give you at this time would almost certainly be, 'We have no plans to implement that feature at this time.'

FFXI hasn't had these additions and I don't think FFXIV should have them. Besides, it's late in the ball game to ask for this. This isn't WoW where you can go to end game from scratch in one week.

XI had lore that prevented them.

XIV has lore that makes you go "Wait where are they"

The lore says they are there, and they are not even visible as NPC's.

I for one say YES to new races! ESPECIALLY male miqote! But if the new races were introduced. Give players a 1 time opportunity to reroll onto a new race and keep all their stats, armor, gil, etc. I would do it!!

I also want closure about this. Regarding the lore, it was NEVER stated that the male Miqo'te were exceptionally rare; you're confusing them with Mithras. The one thing we know about male Miqo'te is that they are as common as their female counterparts, except that they do not like socializing and being in company of other races. As for female Roegadyns, they are said to be beautiful and also very common.

So yes, yes. Give players options.

Late in the game? Hardly. The game is little more than an unofficial beta right now. While adding new playables is no doubt a low priority (and for good reason) right now, this is the perfect time to start the missing gender campaign because - with luck- SE will keep it in mind for a time when they can put the manpower towards implementing this.

By the bye, last I checked I'm playing FFXIV, not FFXI. This isn't the same game and the rules that apply to one game don't necessarily apply to the other.

Sign me up on Missing Genders campaign. This is an addition that could really enhance FFXIV.

like the OP said, there is an interview in which Tanaka said "Tanaka: Actually all of the design is ready, so we were planning to implement them into the game, however during the development process we had to put priority with what to put into the game, and due to the man power issue we had to give up implementing them into the beginning of the game. You will see them as an NPC, but it is not a race that you can choose at the beginning. We’ll see how it goes in the future, it might be a possiblity. We are still looking into it." so adding them to the game now shouldnt be too difficult, the thing that would take the longest is programming the code for all the weapons and gear for the new races, but since most of the gear in the game right now looks pretty much the same i bet they would be able to pull it off by ps3 release.
