A Realm Reborn has stopped working

A Realm Reborn keeps crashing on me at the most random times. Sometimes it will be during the loading screens, or during character selection screens, or during gameplay. If it's during gameplay, I sometimes don't even move or activate any abilities and it will crash. The game is essentially unplayable to me now.

I have reinstalled it twice now, both times with the minimal amount of programs running in the background.

I have reinstalled my video drivers ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460).

My computer meets the requirements of the game:

    SYSTEM_OS Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.130318-1532)
    SYSTEM_CPU Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
    SYSTEM_CORE_NUM SYSTEM_CORE_LOGIC 4 SYSTEM_CORE_PHYSICS 4
    SYSTEM_BIOS Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
    SYSTEM_MEMORY 8190.539MB

I have run it in all three modes (Full screen, windowed and windowless) and it will crash no matter what.

Resetting the computer multiple times seems to help some, but it is no guarantee. The longest I have been able to play this game in one sitting is about 10 hours, so I know my computer is capable of running it flawlessly. It just will randomly crash. Anyone know of a solution? I've scoured the forums across the internet to no avail.

My issue is not that I cannot log in or that the game won't start, it is that it crashes randomly with a windows error. It is not a security issue or presumably on SE's end, it's on mine. But since the game has run an end prior to today without issue, I can only assume something is wrong with my machine.

Did you check audio drivers too? Are you sure it's not overheating? I would give a look at the temps from time to time and try notice if the PC is getting hotter.

My audio drivers are up to date. The computer gets about 5 degrees Celsius warmer during play, but that is nothing unusual. Bioshock, Civ 5, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Starcraft 2, etc, etc all also make the machine run at about 29 degrees. (the same amount that A Realm Reborn runs at).
It is really, really, really random. Yesterday I played for at least 9 hours with no issue. Today, I was only able to play for about 10 minutes tops before it crashed. I don't have to do anything special for it to happen.

I ran a memory test a few times and swapped out a video card. I think I might just be screwed!

Did you already try keeping only the main processes running? Closing all systray apps or random running processes, even antivirus.

I had the same issue, fixed it by replacing the d3d9.dll file in System32 and SysWoW64 with another from a different PC, the file on mine was 2.019 kb on my system, and 1.786 kb with the replacement file..I'd check that.

Also, you'll need to unlock the file before you can replace it, you do that by inputting 'takeown /f %windir%\system32\D3D9.DLL', 'takeown /f %windir%\sysWOW64\D3D9.DLL' , 'cacls %windir%\system32\D3D9.DLL /G administrators:F' and cacls %windir%\sysWOW64\D3D9.DLL /G administrators:F' into Command prompt.

Obviously, the SysWOW64 commands and replacing is only needed if you've 64 bit OS.

EDIT: Before doing this, though, check the event viewer for the error. It might not be the same thing.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. It happens with other games as well. Even with a fresh install of EVERYTHING. I can play pretty fine for a while but sometimes it crashes as I get on or when I go into an instance.
