Should have just used a Dynamis system where you could only get a few items per area, and even then, make drops rather rare.

You can call it XI fanboy / rose tinted whatever, but those who played XI know what I'm talking about. Having to do a bunch of wide open dangerous zone clears, being forced to progress through extremely hard fights and hoards of mobs to have just a chance to get an item is simply INFINITELY more engaging than "run best dungeon x times to insta-buy loot".

It's a damn shame really.
