    Your argument is so incredibly beside the point that it's sad. Being a reboot has nothing to do with anything (since all relevant content made it to this game anyway); FFXI's content has nothing to do with anything.

    And for the record: no MMORPG releases with enough new content to sate speed-runners and power gamers for more than a few months. Name any MMORPG, and I assure you there was at least one group looking down on the masses from the top within a few months.

    This type of sentiment is unreal.

    I wouldn't say that being a reboot means nothing in this case - for many legacy players, we really don't have anything besides the endgame to do, we didn't rush, we started 2.0 that way

    Should have just used a Dynamis system where you could only get a few items per area, and even then, make drops rather rare.

    You can call it XI fanboy / rose tinted whatever, but those who played XI know what I'm talking about. Having to do a bunch of wide open dangerous zone clears, being forced to progress through extremely hard fights and hoards of mobs to have just a chance to get an item is simply INFINITELY more engaging than "run best dungeon x times to insta-buy loot".

    It's a damn shame really.

    I think they added the tomestones and the mythology ones due to how pleased everyone was with the Gurada fight in 1.0 vs the Ifrit fight. (those who actually won). Doing the content and being able to trade what you want for items was fun. This is vs running Ifrit 40 times and come off not having what you want.

    I believe luck content is not fun, but I also agree more variety is needed. All MMOs are a grind, a well designed MMO does not feel that way.

    (a) The only cockblock to getting a relic is grinding Tomestones, there is literally no other part of the quest that is hard and given 2000/2000 Tomestones you could do 2 completely different Relic quests in a matter of 3 hours.

    Their intention or no, they've made a system that people generally enjoy (tokens, working towards a goal) and then shit on it by making it unenjoyable.

    When I logged in today, this was what the game recommended to me:


    There is one event in that list that I would do, and I only need to do it 2-3 times a week to cap out Mythology. Because of (a), there isn't a reason to really farm Primals nor would there be anyway because you could just do (a) again. That content is essentially dead. The story missions are complete zzz and I'd have to spend 6 hours doing them to get enough tokens for one crafting item. Ampador/crafted/DL is completely acceptable mix to beat Coil, so there isn't any real reason to go out of your way to grind anything past your 300 Mythology unless you are doing (a).

    Honestly i think alot of WOW players ruin this game, they just want everything ezmode... this isnt WOW and if you want WOW go back to it.. I enjoy this game and as an Ex WOW player i dont want this game to end up EZmode

    Its funny from a legacy player's perspective. In 1.0 one of the biggest qualms was the fact that speed runs were necessary. You literally didn't need to fight most mobs in the dungeons (except CC obviously). I am so happy they got rid of this aspect. With all the "omg they hand you everything in this game" threads and comments, I'm surprised people are upset about this change. If you just want speed runs why don't we just make empty dungeons with only bosses or enemies as non attackable NPCs.

    Also want to note I don't get to play very much and I welcome this. Now you actually have to fight your way through the dungeon to win. To me that makes sense. Play the game to get rewards... even if it does take some time.

    Amdapor keep is a terrible dungeon. It's a mere corridor with 3 bosses and an army of trashs mobs which only purpose is to slow you down. If it was interesting (or if you didn't have to farm it for tomestones) nobody would complain.
