Will we have cutscenes in future quests?

Do you think this batch of quest is just a quick batch of something slapped together quickly or is it indication of how little effort SE is going to put into the future quests?

Two main points that I'm wondering are that should we interpret this quest update as SE's way of saying "no the quests won't ever have cutscenes".

Also do you think the quality of quest storylines will ever go up?
Do you think we'll see something like http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?fquest=241 "Making candles".

I think this is a good example as the quest description looks like something you might see as XIV's story part of the quest but anyone knows this quest saw that it had an interesting story, a cutscene with heartwarming and beautiful music to go along with it. Something that can't be conveyed through a simple text boxes alone.

how do you think the future quests will shape up? Is there something to look forward to or from now on is it just going to be this quality of quests churned out each month?

Yes we will have more cut scenes in the future

Let us not forget, the quests we were given this time, really arent anything special.

But we still have plenty more coming, including class and story quests. Both of which i am sure just couldnt be what they are without some kind of minor cut scene to them.

They've mentioned that quests will be added in nearly every upcoming update over the next few months with no real signs of stopping, however it's tough to say if they will be the kind of quests we've been expecting from that of FFXI. The cutscenes and interactions between NPCs in the cities were what made XI feel more lively and the lack of that in XIV's cities are what makes them feel like such ghost towns.

There are NPCs, but they aren't doing anything and there is no interaction. Nothing akin to the Onion Brigade of Windurst or the Young Griffons of San d'Oria [s].

It's really early though, and everyone is clamoring for every single possible type of content under the sun so they have their hands full trying to please a wide variety of people with each patch.

To be honest, I thought these quests they added were gonna have story based cutscenes, which if they did, SE would of won my heart, but alas, I will have to keep waiting hehe =D

You got to remember that they have been laying the foundation on the current system so that the changes they make in the future will be easier to implement. This takes a lot of time so I think this round of quests was to appease the playerbase, I am hoping that the future quests should be a bit flashier with a few cutscenes etc.

From a development angle, putting in a lot of cutscenes in a short amount of time is a LOT of work. All motion in XIV is motion-captured now. Most of the animation done for XI, especially early on, was done by hand -- There's a lot of extra tweaking involved with Mocap data and that's AFTER the footage is interpreted into something they can use..

At this point I'm not sure if I'd rather the animators put all their effort towards larger story-driving cutscenes instead of smaller city quests... I don't even know if they're even considering both right now, but it's a lot of work either way.

I have to agree 100% the last update was what I've been waiting for the most since the launch but I find myself not playing the quests because of their lackluster presentation. I wouldn't mind the same simple gesture animations like in XI if it meant that the stories had more "oomph" via better writing and cutscenes.

The current nature of the quests lacks character and since your objective is summarized in that one levesque screen it kind of makes the player not pay attention to anything the NPC is saying, because the essential info is all about the map pointing glowy arrovs to complete the quest.

This sort of gameplay is streamlined to the point that it sort of insults the intelligence of the player because he isn't trusted with even understanding what was just discussed in the dialogue.
