Overall I say NO to glowing weapons BUT like the opening movie of this game I would say OK on some situations like if your weapon has En-spell casted on and only while the En-spell lasts on it.

Also instead of having the effect on all the time, would be fine on some weapons say like classic FF weapon. Flame Tongue (that how you spell in English? JP is flametan - so dunno if its tongue...anyways) only when you hit the mob and the flame effect happens to show flame on the blade but go away after. (How you gonna put flaming weapon on your side? Even Luke Skywalker and those Jedi/Sith have to put the damn sabers away)

I'll just put that in here since the thread was dug up and wanted to comment on it lol.

It is flametongue. A similar effect was in Dragon Age's "<Elemental> Weapons" Spells, except the effect seemed to stay on the blade after you put it away. (It was "magic" fire, after all.)
