I can see myself having a staff with a faintly glowing crystal / or small reflection glows.

Maybe a staff shaped like a dragonshead in wood, with some fainlty glowing crystal / gemed eye's.

Or for thaumaturges, like above glowing crustal-ball wands / crystal mounted wands with
reflective colors could basicly represent wich elemental powers it has etc.
