i don't know about glows, if they're made good i won't care ^^.
what i'd like tho this time around is an actual effect on the weapons if we get en- spells again.

As long as it is not tacky sure. It can be so easily messed up. Cooler effects of a crystal sword and such, like Tidus's Brotherhood would be nice. Also something like pitch could be added to your realistic weapon and gives it a fire effect.
I want a glowing piece of wood >.>;
More seriously, I don't mind having added effects on weapons although it's not ultimately needed.
I want more like elemental like graphics
Watch the CGI Cutscene, when they're fighting that morbol, you will see the mage cast some sort of fire magic onto the archer, this causes his arrows to flame up? I'm not into glowing for the sake of it, but if I use some fire/arrow strike or fire arrows they they could have this affect.
Also if you use Red Lotus Blade, your sword should flame up for a second
But in terms of design, keep it minimal and not glowing like some unreal engine 3 game, the latern shield is how it should be done!
latern shield glows???
Dance like you mean it !
No one is "boring" because FF is a classic RPG which has classic fantasy designs, it's a primarily western thing that something has to be over the top with their fantasy. Why are so many FF XIV players so boring regarding the designs...
- Cool Magic weapons and gear with aura and particle effects! No thank you!
- Burning arrows or rare armor with glowing runes… No thank you!
- A variety of fitting mounts as an addition to chocobos… No Thank you!
- More colorful settings, more plants and greens in the cities… No Thank you!
- Rings/earrings with glowing crystals? No thank you!
- Smileys in chat? No Thank you!

Why do we need to glow?
Why do we need glowing runes?
Why do we need a varity of mounts when in FINAL FANTASY the primary source of travel is Trains, Airships, Ships, Wyverns and Chocobo? Even wyverns are pushing it because it was linked to the storyline of V.
More colorful settings? The game is bright and "real", this isn't unicorn land.
Glowing crystal armor? Why?
Subtle Aura would be something like in FFXI in zilartian areas. You can tell it glows but it's not in your face tacky.
That's more of an aura than glowing.
I'm all for a slight glow, aura, pulse, what have you as long as it makes sense. Something like the Flametongue certainly should have had a better look than it currently does and a slight fire aura of some kind would make sense.
I don't think anyone really wants ridiculously bright glowing weapons to the point where you can't actually see any detail on them due to the overpowering light. I think aura lines, slight glows or other similar things would be fine where applicable. Unique or elemental equipment.
Speaking of glowing things though, I wonder if we'll be able to see materia slotted in anything. It would be interesting if there was some kind of visual cue, maybe not even that extreme. I mean we already have the gems showing in the rings.
and when we're well fed maybe our bellies can get fat. glowing weapons would just look plain tacky =p ide prefer just more unique weapon designs and armor etc
I'd rather not see it at all, as I find it to be tacky most of the time, but if done correctly I wouldn't mind it to much. As others have said, it needs to be subtle, instead of stabbing your brain via your eyes like games such as WoW and Aion where everything glows.
