I actually have 2 characters. One I play with my boyfriend only, so we progress together. It's a slow progression because of his work hours and schedule. My other character is my solo character that I play at my pace and do everything I want to accomplish. :P

I do one character per combat job as I prefer having one character as one class from other MMOs. Was always bothered by FFXI's method of doing everything on one character. It's still that way with FFXIV, but at least it is not impossible to have alts like it was in FFXI. Also in FFXIV you don't have to take classes that support your main job really high which is nice.

Personally I feel that if a character can do everything there is no personality to that character. Jack of all trade characters make very uninteresting stories. That's the roleplayer in me talking, though.

Unfortunately this creates the problem of not having enough character slots for every job. Currently we are limited to 8 per world.. but there are 9 jobs, with more to come in the future I am sure. Don't think that'll change as I'm in the minority as far as this issue is concerned. Sigh.

The character your posting with is both level 15 PUG and 15 LNC. I imagine you're just trolling with an unpopular opinion for the sake of it.

It's just as "impossible" to have alts in FFXIV as it is in FFXI, the only difference is you don't have to pay extra. It's also equally pointless given that the game is built upon having cross class skills.

I mean, have alts if you like, that's your prerogative, but don't act like it's a flaw in the game and you're let down by it. There are many games that don't support multi-class characters, so I'd advise you go play those before condemning a game which you knew well beforehand, has this fundamental purpose built in.

Also in FFXIV you don't have to take classes that support your main job really high which is nice.
Yes you do. FFXI had a 1/2 level limit. Most classes in FFXIV require (at least, highly desire) a skill or two from around the mid-20's, and the cap is 50. So it's virtually the same thing.

Cigaran will be my main character and he'll be leveled in every Class and Job there is. Disciple of War, of Magic, of the Land, of the Hand, it doesn't matter; he's going to have 50 levels worth of it when I'm done.

I do however plan on making two more character to see the story lines for Ul'dah and Limsa Lomisa. Past the story lines though, I don't plan on really leveling nor developing those characters too much.
