Tell us how you play! One character for everything or alts?

Hello fellow Eorzeans (Eorzeacians?)!

Title says it all: I would like to get opinions from people, how they play the game exactly (or planning to if you just started). Been on my mind for a while and saw some talk about it but we never got a big thread covering that.

Personally my current character, a big 7 foot tall 400 pounds Roegadyn, will be my Paladin and my White Mage. I just don't really see him as a Black Mage, Bard or Pugilist: I would prefer to have another race for that, ''fits'' better for me. And seriously have you seen a Roegadyn in a Bard outfit? Scary...

So how are YOU guys doing it? Share with us!

And remember: there is no right or wrong way to do it. It's not because the game allows you to do everything on a single character that you HAVE to. Everyone plays differently, everyone has an opinion, everyone is entitled to said opinion.

It's a game after all: we should enjoy it the way we see fit!

If you are using alt's for different jobs not only are you gimping yourself, you fundamentally don't understand this game.

I could see an alt for crafting classes to ease up on inventory issues, but if you really need space just use a mule so you don't have to manage double friend lists and linkshell/FC things.

There's no reason to have multiple accounts for anything other than more storage space or seeing the story from a different starting city.

...or if you wanted to make a female miqo'te character and exploit all the horny teens for everything they're worth.

One character for me, no alts/mules.

I have every craft 30+ with several 45+, and i havent even filled one of my retainers. I also have a few primal weapons, and a bunch of extra gear stored on my other retainer. I don't really understand how people need more inventory space. I even started storing food ingredients for when when my 31CUL needs to lvl (ive been putting it off, lol). I actually think the inventory bags are a good size, i feel the crunch but its manageable, not too big where i hold everything and not so small that i'm always full.

I guess old habits die hard for some though, if someone came from another mmo that didnt let you do every job, you might feel compelled to make alts.

I have one deciple of war and one of magic, with all of my crafting on the first character.

Only one character because I don't feel like paying extra per month to have another for storage/whatever.
Plus, you can play all the game content on one character.

One toon for me. I've never liked making alts so this game structure is perfect for me.

Really? that's a nice opinion but it's my hobby to lvl up alts I enjoy it a lot more then (current) end game atm. leveling up a new character with a different race/job/name/personality feels more fun to me it's like playing as a different person which is why I play mmos.

Only one for me. Alts have always distracted and caused the game to lose its luster oh so much faster. Now Im in the process of changing my character's look and I can't choose from the 5 I have created T_T

I actually have 2 characters. One I play with my boyfriend only, so we progress together. It's a slow progression because of his work hours and schedule. My other character is my solo character that I play at my pace and do everything I want to accomplish. :P
