It's seems to be getting worse and worse, not better. Can't even log into a zone with have your chat log fill up with spam and requiring to /blist several different people. I'm to the point where I have to turn of /sh and /yell.

bump. It blows my mind that they can't just have one GM whose job it is to patrol the 3 starter cities on all servers just banning people who spam RMT website links. Even just like once every so many hours. I can foresee no negative repercussions from this.
Although it's not a right-click fix they implemented a spam punishment. If you send too many messages you get timed out for a bit.
You can off the shout chat in your options. It is a useless function anyway. Been doing that for a week and boy is it peaceful!
The RMT will continue as long as people continue to get their accounts hacked. People are stupid enough to use the same login and password for everything on the interwebs and thus this happens. People who download bots, which are infected have this happen and of course the people who want to buy gil and use get hacked cos those websites are infected to the eyeballs with keyloggers.

I disable /shout, /yell but still receive /tell. Then I will blist whoever sent me the /tell. I did once try to report through the in game help desk function to report as cheat just like SE told us to do but the procedure and too much typing to report one RMT. I need to give SE name, time, place and reason. This just too much inconvenience considering I get on average 2 or 3 /tell from them. So far, there are 10+ names on my blist.
Wait, I thought these RMTs were just generated accounts used for the sole purpose of marketing. I didn't know they were hacked accounts. The RMT will continue as long as people continue to get their accounts hacked. Look around the forums and the lodestone. There was a post by one of the devs saying they have banned over 500 accounts thus far relating to RMT.
