This AFK timer will help prevent congestion when people come back for a big patch in the future. It's a good thing.

sux to always enter the security token but I like thge kick function 30 minuets is just a bit to long it sahould be 20 minuets or maybe 15
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
He who learns but does not think, is lost. He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.
it wont kick you out of the client, just to the character select screen. there is no purpose to causing congestion when you arent even there. It isnt just you, its thousands of people just standing there for hours. And before anyone says "everyone can log in now", yes we can, but we are still experiencing bad lag in some areas "like dragonhead" and people there afk arent helping.
you literally have to click 1, maybe 2 buttons to get back online. unlike ffxi, there is nothing to gain by standing idle since now bazaars are done through retainers. you are only causing problems
for every 1 person thats afk for 31 minutes, theres 100 people thats been AFK for 6 hours or more. you get inconvenienced for 5 seconds, what is going on in your life where you are upset you have to turn game back on you werent actually playing?

Its not just because of log in problems that the log out timer is needed. The world gets full of people not playing and lowers world performance. 30 minute timer is fine. QQ less.
So I can't afk while being in the duty finder? Sometimes it takes over 45 minutes for me to get into a ifrit hm if I don't have a tank or healer with me.
I usually craft or farm during that time, but if I want to go play something else until I hear the DF chime, I can't anymore without having to go back to my pc every 20 minutes?
Meh...
It won't prevent jack poop. First, if people are coming back from a big patch, nobody is logged in, so your post makes no sense. Second, auto-logouts are easily circumvented so the effort on it was a waste to anyone who cares about staying logged in, and a needless hassle to anyone who isn't making a stink about it.This AFK timer will help prevent congestion when people come back for a big patch in the future
To anyone who thinks 30 minutes is too long, you're insane. If it's any lower, you're going to be getting up to take a piss or eat something and be logged out when you come back.
Every other MMO lets you stay logged in as long as you want, as did this one until now. To treat it like it's some kind of luxury to be taken away is ludicrous.
This could have been helpful towards stablizing the servers in the past two weeks but as time goes on, the benefit will disappear and it will only cause aggrivation, so it should be removed or made optional as soon as possible.
also, as others have mentioned, sometimes it can take 30 minutes or more to find a party with the duty finder. Are you saying I can't just sit and wait for it?
No, it's not fine, and I won't QQ less. If it has to exist at all it shouldn't be any less than an hour, but it doesn't really matter how long it is because people will just use keyboard macros to prevent themselves from being logged out if necessary.30 minute timer is fine. QQ less.

"Every other MMO lets you stay logged in as long as you want, as did this one until now."
Thats a lie mister. You are either missinformed or very much butthurt, want insta ques roll healer or tank, we all know how badly the comunity needs them, deal with it
It hasn't actually been noted yet if you AFK while queuing for a dungeon -- the timer still applies.
If it does log you out, that's a bit stupid. But there is no other circumstance where it matters. Just log back in. If I'm crafting, and I have to run outside to look at this amazing double rainbow, I'll just log back in when I get back.
The maturity of posts on this forum is astounding. "oh, he has a legitimate complaint about a feature that didn't need to be implemented, he must be butthurt!"
And allow me to qualify my first statement a little more: Most, or nearly all, MMOs do not force you to log out after a period of inactivity. I'm sure there are a few that do, but I haven't played them. I've played many MMOs in my days, none of which had a forced auto-logout timer.
This is standrad MMO practice! WTF is wrong with you people? This should be in place even without the overpopulation issues. Login issues are gone right? For fucks sake it takes a total of 1 minute to log back in if you had this "rare" emergency. What are you, 5?There can be many unexpected circumstances that could pull you away from your computer for 30 minutes or more, making this timer ridiculously short. Login issues mostly went away after the last big maintenance, so why did they still feel the need to put this in? People aren't really staying logged in just to keep a spot on the server anymore, because it hasn't been necessary.
Please, remove this needless feature once the worlds are stable , or make it on by default but optional in the configuration. If you don't, people are going to make keyboard macros and stuff to circumvent it, so it's pointless anyway.
