So there is the option to dispatch a retainer to any of the main cities. After doing so it shows the retainer as selling items in that cities market.
What's the point of this if the market board is shared across all cities?

If you need to pick up your goods, you need to go to whatever city your retainer is at, as far as I'm aware. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Edit: And by 'goods' I mean the money your retainer gets when something sells on the market board.
Sorry to hijack, this was bugging me the other night. Why do you dispatch them to another city? Somebody told me that your items are sold across every city and not just one so unless you were housed at a different city I cannot see any reason why you would move your retainer?
No, this is not true, you can retrieve your money from anywhere. I believe the difference is that the AH fees are less when the person is buying in the city where the retainer is located, but I have not confirmed this.
ya i just noticed today that each city has different tax rates, 1 is usually lower than the others
Yes its for taxes as stated above.
If you buy from a person's retainer that is selling in the city your in there is no buyer tax. If you buy it from a retainer in another city you pay a tax on top of the listed price.
