    Undyeable gear... what?

So there's a lot of really cool gear in this game, and you can dye almost none of it...

Ok, I exaggerate slightly, but most of the green or blue gears (i.e. the cool looking ones -- darklight, acolyte stuff, GC, etc.) can't be modified, while dyes are reserved for the crummiest of equips.

So.. what gives? I understand not being able to totally dye GC uniforms for lore purposes, but if dying is included in the game why not give it some kind of dying component (i.e. the trim? something).

Still don't get it. Is there a union contract stipulating appropriate dress for a job? I get things like BLM should be black, I mean it make sense and all, but just like the GCs.. why not have a dyeable component that still perseveres the lore? Right now I'm wishing I'd kept my orange juice, lol!

Besides, if they're going to have vanity slots that sort of makes the lore point moot, since everyone will already be 'special snowflaking' by mixing and matching their preferred armors.

Oh, and another thing, whats up with the non-convertible nonesense? I get if you want to make a gear non-sellable so its harder to get, but why not let players convert it when they're done with it (unless maybe its some kind of special armor? I don't even know...). I could see this being an RMT blocker for early armors.. maybe.. but why are things like obsolete AF gear non-convertible? What purpose does it serve?

That makes sense for AF, although it sucks but other gear that they're just...making up..It's silly. I mean the lore for Darklight can be whatever they want it to be, while players have certain expectations for AF & Relic..

^ Truth. Tho, I still think AF should have some dyable part, even if the core colors stay the same (say on BLM AF body if you could dye the little feather thing, or if you could make the whole thing a different shade of black).

I was bitterly disappointed about this. The npc characters in the black mage questline have coloured AF, so it isn't a question of lore. I really rather liked the coloured version of the BLM AF and would have liked to be able to wear it.

The lore of my character's story is cast by me. I decide his colours. If I can't dress my character, it's not my character. I'm not playing their character.

Many final fantasy games show the same job looking different when worn by different characters. Individuality is more important here. Once given the option, I'd choose a dyed version of much lower level gear to remain visible on my character before displaying clashing "trophies" in every slot.

I'm not arguing with *you*, only with the sentiment.

All gear should have some dyeable bit. Even if it's just a small part it should be there. The only gear I would understand to be undyeable would be the GC one.

AF not being dyable makes perfect sense. Turning WHM armor black, BLM armor white, etc.. This really screws with the the iconic look of the job and honestly would cause a lot of bitching from a specific crowd of people - so let's not go down that road. Things like greens, pinks, and darklight though? I haven't the foggiest why that isn't dyable.. I'm all for everything that isn't AF being dyable really.
