Add the old soundtrack as an option where applicable

Hey guys, I know a lot of people had problems with the old FFXIV but one of the more positive aspects was the music. I only joined in with ARR but I heard parts of the soundtrack and a number of voices on the internet are lamenting the loss of old score. I understand the need for a new soundtrack to distance ARR from its predecessor, but at the same time it's a shame that Uematsu's hard work has simply become null except for the lucky few who own a copy of the OST. So here's my suggestion: Add the original soundtrack as a B option in the game menu. If there's new content that doesn't have a fitting musical 1.0 counterpart, just use the current soundtrack. However I'm sure there's plenty of overlap to warrant this addition. Personally, I've been a fan of Nobuo Uematsu's music since FFVI. Thanks for reading!

I'd love to see Inn/Housing have a 'jukebox' feature to select game music .. IN-GAME music, not user-added metal! .. like was added to XI, and the V1 music being part of it would be great. I miss the original Limsa theme and a few of those from the leveling areas.

I'd like to be able to switch to 1.0's battle themes (except Coerthas as its 1.0 battle is now a boss theme), or they should at least be reused somewhere.

hmm.... if you truly love the original music so much you would put the ingame music volume to 0 and open mp3 files on you pc and play the original soundtrack. im not going to start a debate but soken's work in this game is one of the main reasons this game is getting such high scores. hell even kotaku loves the music..... KOTAKU the same people that was ready to tear ARR a new asshole due to the login errors at launch and now they are loving the game

Just to clarify, I'm not dissing Masayoshi Soken's work at all. It's about not letting the old soundtrack go to waste. I'd like my ice cream to be walnut and lemon, please. Of course Wiggles is entitled to his own opinion.

That seems like a very impractical solution since game music isn't created in a vacuum but rather to match a certain situation, setting or mood.

I have this gripe too. 1.0 had a beautiful soundtrack. Coerthas, Thanalan, etc were genuinely amazing zone music. Why isn't there an option to alternate the soundtrack?

They really should add more of the old soundtrack into the game =3 most of their remakes have the option to hear the original soundtrack or the new soundtrack. The old Lower Thanalan music was so awe-inspiring, part of the reason I have miner leveled =p
Who knows maybe we'll hear it again in an expansion =D

Originally i HATED WITH A PASSION ARR OST' don't get me wrong Soken is an amazing guy, and some of the endgame music is great Titan, Pre, Coil etc, BUT i think the battle themes, Area's themes, Towns (Even Gridania's theme) was better, honestly i think we should get the option to switch like we can with the Voices, and yes i have Before Meteor but its a pain if you want to listen to "Nail of the Heavens" every time you fight a mob, if we could have it fade in and out like it does with ARR,s music that would be great,

Or heck give us the option to change it with Addon's when they come.

OR give us the option like GW2 where we can replace the in game OST with ur own music by putting playlists in the directory


"Customizing
Find the Music folder in the GW2 documents folder. The default location is Users\[Your Name]\Documents\Guild Wars 2, next to the Screens folder (i.e. where GW2 places your screenshots).
Create a playlist with an appropriate name and type (see below).
Add any media to the folder as needed. (Although your playlist can point to the default location of sound files on the hard drive.)

Example
If you create a playlist called Ambient.m3u, the game will play that while you travel around the world (instead of the default ambient music)."
