    On Mining

I feel mining (maybe all DoL classes but mining is what I do) might need some rework to bring it in line with DoH classes.
    1) GP+ gear has very limited value when you have a high pool already and abilities cost a lot. I think GP regen would be much more helpful, you can use abilities more often making it easier to get exp to level.

    2) Exp from mining is too low as it is now. Right now I'm mining silver ore. Say I mine 3 HQ silver ore and get ~1500 exp. I use those 3 HQ silver ores to make a silver ingot and get ~2500 exp on my GSM. That seems way out of sync. And that's HQ. If it was normal I'd get ~750 exp mining and ~2200 exp on GSM. Because of this my miner is level 22 and my GSM is level 28.

I feel if they upped the exp from gathering 25-30%, added or changed GP+ gear to GP regen it would make gathering much better. What do you guys think?

Well see the thing is you may only get ~1500 exp on miner now but it is fairly easy to just click on an item with a mouse or gamepad repeatedly and move from one point to the next. The Thing is its all based on percentages if you noticed that once you reach level 10 and start mining obsidian its only giving you like 80exp per obsidian outside of a chain. Then you hit level 11 you get 90 exp a hit the reason why is your exp bar went up in how much you need to level. That is the reason why it seems so uneven because you can easily make ~2500 exp in the same amount of time it takes to synth that 1 item. (exp is just a random guess and is being used as an example at this time) I do agree with you on the GP regen thing but the thing is later on is what they are trying to make you work for the level 50 mining items such as darksteel ore.

You have to use an ability that takes 300gp to get so to not ruin the economy and also make it a bit harder to obtain higher end gear you need to either pay more or spend some time trying to get these items. What I suggest is maybe a ring that gives +5 more gp per tic or something like that.

Not to mention to get higher % chance at HQ lvl 50 nodes, having 600 GP really helps. It allows for two 300 gp point abilities to be used, which in turn allows for all attempts to be made at 31% HQ gathering rate. While I agree that GP regen is slow, it is espicially slower when you are grinding out nodes. Regen on the whole is faster if you just wait till you have the points.

gathering xp is too low, even battle jobs xp faster

@ 39 miner needing 304900 xp hitting black alumen lv 40 item for an avg of 350 xp I need 868 successes to finish the level. Not including HQ finds.

It would also be nice if gathering worked like crafting where you can try to gather items up to 5 levels higher than your current level

I still feel like adding GP regen would help make it less boring (how many circles can I do before I get nauseous?) and be able to use abilities to get more successful hits on nodes and HQ pieces, which in turn makes getting exp easier. I do think that the exp per hit would still need to go up some to even it out with other classes still. Again, my goldsmith is almost 31 and my miner is level 26, and I only got to 26 by grinding mining leves, about 15 of them. It's falling farther and farther behind.

I love mining, picked it up and never put it down. Kinda of nice to just sit there and do hard labor, not stuck in some office.

Also, is it better to go with Blacksmith or Goldsmith? Just curious as I need to start one of those!

    Obtaining a Mining Pick again

Anyone know how to obtain a mining pick again if it was discarded from inventory?!

Try doing some leves you can get like 10~15k exp just from doing leves at that level.

Most likely a Tools vendor in your starting city, like in the Merchant Strip in Ul'Dah.
