    Let's take the situation of one of the casual players SE has been so keen to attract to the game.
    Lets say our poor Jonny Casual has eight hours game time per week. He's reached the stage where the next content he needs to do requires him to be in AF2 for the ilevel cap.
    ALL his gametime for the next three months running the same dungeon over and over to get the AF2 for one job.

    Actually, it sounds like YOU are new to MMOs - or have only played FFXI and FFXIV. Probably the latter.

    Dungeon bosses dropping the best gear in the game is common across ALL MMOs. You use "tokens" (like tombstones) to buy the subpar items. But bosses? They should drop 3-4 pieces of the best gear in the game each time you kill them. In most MMOs (that you seem to have not played) you're limited to killing these bosses once per week.

    This current system just says to me: "We plan to give you new end-game once per year, so enjoy grinding your ass off for that year" - it's basically one of FFXI's many grindy systems in disguise.

    If those games are so great then why are you playing a grindy one like this one? I for one knew what I was getting when I spent my money here. I'm not stupid enough to think FFXIV was going to reinvent the wheel, and nor do I expect them too.

    An AK run is actualy the most rewarding instance to do by far, even now with the doubled or tripled duration. First, you get ILV60 gear which is a nice step up if you don't have DL yet. Second, you get 40 Mythology stones AND 80 Philosophy. Sure it is grindy, it's an MMO. Compared to a lot of others it's a lot less grindy. For it to not be grindy you would have to have a completely new instance every time you go to get tomestones or gear - obviously this is impossible.

    In a way, the work you do (killing mobs) is rewarded by getting gear and tomestones at the end. But, yes that can't really be justified. Mobs should drop loot, at least crafting materials.

    This fix literally just happened to increase the grind.

    As to why I made this thread an hour ago regarding my concern.

    Maybe if you used this against us 3 days ago it would've worked. But seeing as how grinding is going to go, I told my FC to exclude me from all end game content as I will not have as much time to gear.

    Oh, the first dot, should be an question mark. Screwed that up, i wanted to sarcastically tell you that mmo and grindy arent really so close with each other as you may think. There are very grindy games but this, was praised as the game for everyone so i would assume it's not gonna get very grindy because most people tend to avoid heavy grinder games.

    .. That isn't work it's just tedious crap that really needs no thought process.

    The trash takes 100x longer then the boss and they drop nothing. I kill 9 packs to see nothing, just to jump a hurdle to something I already know I can achieve and is a pretty mind numbing dungeon at best.
