This is ridiculous. I've done some grinding in my day but to have ONE dungeon that takes literally an HOUR with a non-premade group. (Chances are they haven't really done this dungeon before.)
There's a difference between grinding for a weapon or.. grinding for that armor that has a X percentage of dropping. But.. im just seeing my tomes go up and knowing I gotta run this X amount of times to get to Y.
There's nothing that makes you awe in this game, it's funny how people automatically say.. "You're new to mmos"
I too would much rather go into an instance hoping the item I want drops then to earn tokens which after a while will result in me purchasing said item.
There is a feeling of joy when the item you've killed a boss 20 times for finally drops where as when you are earning tokens it's more of a feeling of "just one more run and I get X, 20 more runs until I get Y...". The later makes the game feel much more grindy imo even if they both could take roughly the same amount of time to complete.
Making a choice not to farm AK for tomes is equivalent to making a choice to cut you out from all end-game content.
Farming AK is a pre-requisite, it isn't even as "optional" as what many makes it seem.
Give us more dungeons that awards equivalent quantity of Philosophy and Mythology tomestones is what I'm asking for, we need variety rather than constantly farming in 1 single dungeon for hundreds of times.
Actually, it sounds like YOU are new to MMOs - or have only played FFXI and FFXIV. Probably the latter.
Dungeon bosses dropping the best gear in the game is common across ALL MMOs. You use "tokens" (like tombstones) to buy the subpar items. But bosses? They should drop 3-4 pieces of the best gear in the game each time you kill them. In most MMOs (that you seem to have not played) you're limited to killing these bosses once per week.
This current system just says to me: "We plan to give you new end-game once per year, so enjoy grinding your ass off for that year" - it's basically one of FFXI's many grindy systems in disguise.

and you still here playing....funnyActually, it sounds like YOU are new to MMOs - or have only played FFXI and FFXIV. Probably the latter.
