4 of those titles are free to play though... Free to play is fine with an autokick, sub games are not imo.Let's counter that:
WoW (2004 - current) - has an afk kick
Aion (2009 - current) - has an afk kick
Tera (2011 - current) - has an afk kick
Rift (2011 - current) - has an afk kick
SWtor (2011 - current) - has an afk kick
So yes....the norm in massive MMO these days is having an auto-afk kick.
Sure, those game you list had no afk kick, but also had no where near the ammount of players MMOs today have (because MMO were not as masive as they are now)
Stop barking orders. I just feel i paid for the time same as anyone else. If i want to just sit there and listen to the music and read a linkshell chat or a FC chat that should be my choice. But go ahead and follow that "Enititled" train all you wish. Just a follower like the rest of the mindless pawns. I paid just like everyone else. If they want to do dungeons for an hour that is their choice. But perhaps i wish to just sit down and listen to the Final Fantasy world.

And if you are indeed doing such actions, it should not be much of a problem to tap a key about every 25m to not get logged out. I do agree 30m is a bit on the short side, due to things like LS and FC chat mainly.Stop barking orders. I just feel i paid for the time same as anyone else. However, the reason it was added was because Bob could not play due to every Tom, Dick, and Harry staying logged in when they were asleep and at work.
Can you honestly say it is a good business decision to tell some of your paying customers they can't use your product because you are afraid of slightly inconveniencing other customers?
It does need changing, but I don't see it happening until after they turn back on the digital sales and player influx slows down after that.

So what? The whole purpose of why the auto log out got implemented currently is because large numbers of AFK players were preventing others from being able to play in the first place. Objectively, is any one person's sub fee more important than any other? No it is not, but when you have the problem of people not being able to play due to more players than expected being made worse by people logged in and not playing for prolonged periods of time, an auto-kick is needed to make it so the majority has a chance to actually play instead of the minority monopolizing the available slots. When the digital sales get re-implemented, and if there is not massive congestion I can see this being relaxed or even eliminated, but until the games population becomes stable and is not growing at a fast rate the AFK boot needs to stay.
"Used to be" Keywords. ^^ It's features like this that make games feel generic in my opinion, but w/e most of you got what you wanted. But something this simple changes how this game looks to me now. I don't afk often on the game besides bathroom breaks and simple little stuff. But it's just 1 more limitation, and limitations i don't like. I guess we'll see how this is handled by SE before my decisions are made.

4 of them are F2p NOW. If memory serves Aion, Rift, and SWtor were all P2P when they first came out and already had the auto-log out feature. Also WoW is not and never likely will be F2P and as far as MMO success is measured, it's the one the industry standard is based on, and it has always had an auto boot feature that is NOT optional. It also only gives you 15 mins before you get booted, where FFXIV gives you 30 mins.
