Keep the afk kicker. I don't know why you would even want to remove it in the first place.

Likelky becuase they are set to re open sales soon, (nearly) all worlds are now open for new characters and a afk timer should help avoiding the repeat of 3012 and 1017 as a new flood of people that could *possibly* be joining us in a short while.
If I go eat food or do some cleaning whilst waiting for LS event, I'd like to know what has been said in LS chat or in /tells to me whilst I was afk. You are destroying my game immersion and LS team spirit!Greetings,
We do not have any plans of eliminating the automatic logout feature at the moment. However, we would like to keep an eye on the conditions now that it has been implemented, and if we determine that adjustments can be made we will look into extending the time before you are automatically logged out.
We should disable retainers when we're not logged in since that eats up resources and we're not actually playing so...
1) People saying "It's the reason the servers were screwed up near launch" are ridiculous. It was a byproduct not the cause.
2) What is done with a person's account should be completely up to them. If they want to afk with their paid subscription, no one has the right to tell them they can't (ESPECIALLY when it doesn't affect them, which it doesn't).
3) There's no record of a chat log. Once you logout (or are forced to), it's gone.
4) There's no record of a sales log. Once you logout (or are forced to), it's gone. I don't want to waste time going back to town to check if any of my stuff has sold only to find out it hasn't when I'm trying to move a large amount of stuff out after a crafting spree. I want to be free to go do something else for a bit, go afk when I need to, to break things up a bit if need be but be able to come back and continue doing whatever it was without worrying about whether something sold while i was gone (and got auto kicked).
5) The server login issues are (mostly) resolved, this "feature" is over a week late and no longer relevant. Especially as a pacifier for the people who "whined" about it when they couldn't login.
6) Getting auto kicked puts you back at the start menu. If you're afk, that means that start screen video is going to play, which is a lot more load-heavy on a graphics card over an unpopulated area in-game (such as an inn room). This is bad if you are unexpectedly gone for a few hours.
I could go on but I feel I've wasted my time because the trolls are going to be like "you could just logout!" or "you eat server resources!" and just ignore perfectly valid points or nitpick (falsely at that).
Please no. i want to keep the stuff i sell available for people 24/7 as it is now.
Most of time one of my items sells is when im logged out. I have a small gil income ( 15k per day ) don't cut the opportunity to get this daily income from lvl50 "day & night" crafters because im off when they need the item i would have been able to sell them if i was in.

I think 30 mins its too short, 1 hour would be great. This feature its great to help servers to avoid "queques" or crash due high trafic.
Reading people complain about this its a joke, oh wait i wanted to say 6 hour in the roof of some building or siting in a table?.
I think what many people are missing is that many endgame events take hours to set up, sometimes more. Communication is vital during those times. Most people are not going to stare at the screen for 2 hours while a guild raid ( or whatever ff14 endgame has in store ) gets setup. Running back to the comp to hit the space bar every 20 minutes... is fairly retarded. Also if the endgame events end up anything like ff11 ... 2 hours for group setup would be nothing. Imagine trying to organize a saturday dyna run with a 30 min logout feature.. lol![]()
Why, this is what the majority wanted, and I love it.
If pigs can really fly, I wouldn't care about anything else!!!

Or just move every so often. This kind of feature isn't uncommon in an mmo and it's what the forums were crying for before, you got what you wanted.
I guess people are just that obsessed with complaining or something. No doubt when any kind of extension is added or the feature is removed altogether(god forbid) there will be another topic just like this, just going on about something different.
